OBJECTIVE: To describe the outcomes after uterine artery embolization treatment of leiomyoma.
DESIGN: Case report.
SETTING: Department of Gynecology - Federal University of São Paulo.
PATIENT: a 34-year-old woman with a diagnosis of leiomyoma for two years.
INTERVENTION: embolization of uterine arteries with 500 to 700-microm diameter polyvinyl alcohol particles.

We report a case of repeated hemoptysis successfully treated with bronchial artery embolization (BAE) with N-butyl cyanoacrylate (NBCA). A 75-year-old woman with non-tuberculous mycobacteriosis and pulmonary aspergillosis was admitted with recurrent hemoptysis despite repeated BAE. The effects of 30-minute intravenous and superior mesenteric artery (SMA) infusions of vasopressin in dosages of 2.75 mU and 14 mU per min per kg were compared in five dogs that had cirrhosis and portal hypertension induced by fractionated intraportal polyvinyl alcohol injections.
