[Effects of a proprioceptive training program on sensorimotor capacities of the lower extremity in patients with anterior cruciate ligament instability].

Sensomotory function after ACL-reconstruction was tested prior and after a proprioceptive rehabilitation program with the Kinesthetic Ability Trainer (KAT 2000) which documented the static balance index (SBI). A control group consisting of healthy subjects was also tested two times with a time interval of six weeks. The results showed an adaptation effect to the testing device in the control group with an 17.12% increase of the SBI. There were no differences between the dominant and non dominant extremity. The active sensomotory function in the healthy knee of the operated patients showed no d

The relationship between lower limb proprioception and balance performance in children with cerebral palsy: a multisystem and multi-joint approach.

BACKGROUND: Balance problems are a frequent focus of rehabilitation approaches in children with cerebral palsy (CP). Although proprioceptive impairments, affecting 46-90% of children with CP, are commonly observed, their role in postural control remains insufficiently understood. AIM: Given the multisystemic nature of postural control, this study aimed to investigate the association between lower-limb proprioception (hip, knee, ankle) and distinct postural control systems in children with CP compared to typically development (TD). DESIGN: Cross-sectional case-control study. SETTING: Differe…

Effectiveness of a Virtual Reality rehabilitation in stroke patients with sensory-motor and proprioception upper limb deficit: A study protocol.

INTRODUCTION: Stroke is the second leading cause of death in Europe. In the case of stroke survival (almost 70%), only 25% of patients recover completely, while the remaining 75% will undergo a rehabilitation phase that varying from months to years. The primary outcomes of a stroke involve motor impairment in the upper limbs, resulting in a partial or complete inability to move the limb on the right or left side, depending on the affected hemisphere. Furthermore, the motor deficit distorts the proprioception of the body and the embodiment ability of the injured limb. This could be rehabilitate…

Effect of Aquatic Proprioception Training, Strengthening, and Balance Exercises on Knee Joint Stability and Functional Performance in Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury.

Background Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries frequently induce symptomatic knee instability and functional decline among active individuals. This pathology extends beyond mechanical insufficiency, involving significant deficits in muscle force production, balance, and proprioception. Collectively, these neuromuscular disruptions impair joint stability and represent critical factors that can delay the recovery of full functional status. While conventional land-based rehabilitation remains the standard approach, aquatic rehabilitation has gained attention due to its ability to reduce joi…
