Development and psychometric validation of the Adolescent Self-Harm Risk Assessment (ASRA) Scale: A multi-dimensional approach.

BACKGROUND: Adolescent self-harm has become an increasingly severe public health issue worldwide. However, existing assessment tools mainly rely on self-reporting and fail to effectively capture the multidimensional and systemic risk factors. This study aims to develop and validate a comprehensive self-harm risk assessment tool (ASRA), integrating ecological systems theory and the cumulative ecological risk model, to fill the gaps in current assessment tools. METHODS: Through an extensive literature review, two rounds of expert consultations (Delphi method), and a pre-survey, we developed the

Self-assessment of quality of life in patients after suffering from aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, principal component analysis.

Quality of life (QoL) is one of the parameters that characterize the treatment success after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, along with overall survival and independent living without the need for care. Thus, the main aim of this research was to evaluate the quality of life of patients after endovascular or microsurgical treatment of ruptured cerebral aneurysms. This study was performed at the Jena University Hospital in Germany. A total of 32 patients completed the German version of the WHO QoL Questionnaire during routine follow-up visits at our neurovascular outpatient clinic between Ja

Quantitative assessment of self-management in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: An unmet clinical need.

In this editorial we comment on the article titled "Establishment and validation of an adherence prediction system for lifestyle interventions in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease" by Zeng et al published in a recent issue of the World Journal of Gastroenterology. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) represents one of the current challenges in hepatology and public health, due to its continuous growing prevalence and the rising incidence of NAFLD-related fibrosis, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis and cirrhosis. The only effective therapeutic strategy for this disease is represented by encour

Phantom study of a self-shielded X-ray bone age assessment instrument against scattered radiation in children.

Hand-wrist radiography is the most common and accurate method for evaluating children's bone age. To reduce the scattered radiation of radiosensitive organs in bone age assessment, we designed a small X-ray instrument with radioprotection function by adding metal enclosure for X-ray shielding. We used a phantom operator to compare the scattered radiation doses received by sensitive organs under three different protection scenarios (proposed instrument, radiation personal protective equipment, no protection). The proposed instrument showed greater reduction in the mean dose of a single exposure

Accuracy of immediate self-assessment of neurocognitive test performance: Associations with psychiatric diagnosis and longitudinal psychotic symptoms.

Participants with schizophrenia (SCZ) and bipolar disorder (BD) have challenges in self-evaluation of their cognitive and functional abilities, referred to as introspective accuracy (IA). Although psychotic symptoms are commonly found to be uncorrelated with cognitive performance, many models of the development of delusions focus on failures in self-assessment and responses biases during momentary monitoring. We performed a single 4-test cognitive assessment on 240 participants (schizophrenia n = 126; bipolar disorder n = 114) and asked them to make a judgment about their performance immediate…
