BACKGROUND: Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) has gained attention as one of the minimally invasive modalities to manage ECC although it causes black staining of treated carious lesions. A possible affordable alternative may be Sodium Fluoride (NaF) varnish combined with good oral hygiene promoted by parental Motivational Interviewing (MI). Inhaled antimicrobial therapy is attractive because of its potential to provide high concentrations of antimicrobials to the site of active respiratory infections while avoiding systemic toxicity. Many antimicrobials have been used in inhaled preparations, including aminoglycosides, colistin sodium, cephalosporins, penicillins, vancomycin, amphotericin B, and several antiviral compounds. This review highlights available data on inhaled antimicrobials, antifungals, and antivirals for the prevention and treatment of infections of the respiratory tract.

The current legal and regulatory status of classes of feed additives is discussed, including food additives permitted in animal feed and drinking water, generally recognized as safe (GRAS) ingredients, and approved animal drugs. A brief description of these feed additive classes is given. Some nutritional and practical considerations are given for feed additives, and some special considerations are provided for free-choice feeding, medicated liquid feeds, sodium molybdate, and chromium compounds.

The effect of 42 steroids of the 20-ketopregnane series with heterocycles fused in positions 16 alpha and 17 alpha on the activity of Na+,K(+)-activated ATPase from pig kidney was studied. A novel composite of montmorillonite-supported carboxymethyl cellulose-stabilized nanoscale iron sulfide (CMC@MMT-FeS), prepared using the co-precipitation method, was applied to remediate hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI))-contaminated soil.
