Coenzyme Q, besides its role in electron transfer reactions, may act as a radical scavenger. The effect of oxygen radicals produced by ultrasonic irradiation on the quinone ring was investigated. Binding of chlorpromazine (CPZ) with human hemoglobin has been studied by equilibrium dialysis and fluorescence quenching. A multi-column system has been developed for automated analysis of basic drugs in urine. Two polymeric pre-columns, containing PRP-1 and Aminex A-28, were used to isolate the drugs. A method for the direct quantitative densitometry of nitrazepam and its main metabolites (7-aminonitrazepam, 7-acetamidonitrazepam and 2-amino-5-nitrobenzophenone) in urine was developed. Spectral evidence is presented that 0.01-0.03 mM solutions of the antiasthmatic drug doxantrazole contain the neutral or ionized form, depending on the solvent and, at least in 1 case, on concentration.
