"The targets…are driving the agenda and that probably needs to change": stakeholder perspectives on HIV partner notification in sub-Saharan Africa.

BACKGROUND: Voluntary assisted partner notification (VAPN) in HIV contact tracing is a globally recommended strategy to identify persons who have been exposed to HIV and link them to HIV testing and follow-up. However, there is little understanding about how VAPN is experienced by stakeholders in sub-Saharan African (SSA) contexts. We conducted a multi-level and multi-national qualitative analysis evaluating stakeholder perspectives surrounding VAPN implementation to inform the development of future VAPN policies. METHOD: We conducted in-depth interviews (IDIs) with VAPN stakeholders at globa

From deposit to disposition: behavioural determinants of participation in hungary's REpont deposit-return system.

Deposit-return systems (DRS) have acquired renewed policy urgency across the European Union following the adoption of the 2024 Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR, Regulation (EU) 2025/40), which obliges all member states to achieve a 90% separate collection rate for single-use beverage containers by 2029. Hungary's REpont scheme, operational from January 2024 and administered by MOHU (MOL Hulladékgazdálkodási Zrt.) through more than 4,700 collection points nationwide, represents one of the youngest and most centralised DRS architectures in the European Union. The behavioural determ

Research priorities for metabolic interventions in severe mental illness: results of a James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership.

People with severe mental illness have higher rates of cardiometabolic morbidity and premature mortality than the general population. Altered brain energy metabolism can contribute to psychiatric symptoms, suggesting metabolic interventions could improve mental and physical health outcomes. We aimed to identify and prioritise unanswered research questions on metabolic interventions in people with severe mental illness, co-designed with people with lived experience. We conducted a James Lind Alliance (JLA) Priority Setting Partnership involving people with lived experience of severe mental illn

Toward Consent in Molecular HIV Surveillance?: Perspectives of Critical Stakeholders.

BACKGROUND: The emergence of molecular HIV surveillance (MHS) and cluster detection and response (CDR) programs as key features of the United States (US) HIV strategy since 2018 has caused major controversies. HIV surveillance programs that re-use individuals' routinely collected clinical HIV data do not require consent on the basis that the public benefit of these programs outweighs individuals' rights to opt out. However, criticisms of MHS/CDR have questioned whether expanded uses of HIV genetic sequence data for prevention reach beyond traditional public health ethics frameworks. This study

Preparing accessible and understandable clinical research participant information leaflets and consent forms: a set of guidelines from an expert consensus conference.

BACKGROUND: In line with Good Clinical Practice and the Declaration of Helsinki, it is the investigator's responsibility to ensure that research participants are sufficiently informed, to enable the provision of informed consent. The Participant Information Leaflet/Informed Consent Form is key to facilitating this communication process. Although studies have indicated that clinical research Participant Information Leaflets/Informed Consent Forms are not optimal in terms of accessibility, there is little or no specific guidance available. The aim of this research was to propose and agree a set

WASOG Clinical Trial Endpoint Task Force: Executive Summary.

Over the past few years, an increased number of clinical trials have been performed evaluating specific therapies for pulmonary and cardiac sarcoidosis. However, a lack of consensus remains for appropriate clinical trial endpoints. In 2024, the World Association of Sarcoidosis and Other Granulomatous disease (WASOG) established a clinical trial endpoint Task Force to update the 2011 WASOG Task Force. This initiative was spearheaded by five sarcoidosis specialists (RPB, EEL, DAC, MAJ, AUW) and enlisted a total of 55 stakeholders, including 37 health care providers, 14 industry representatives,

Implementation of a prosecutor-led substance use diversion program in New Jersey.

INTRODUCTION: In response to the large number of people who use substances involved in the criminal legal system, various diversion programs have been introduced as an alternative to standard legal proceedings and sanctions. Drug courts operating at trial courts are perhaps the best known example, but other formats have emerged. Opt for Help and Hope is a prosecutor-led diversion program operating at six municipal courts in New Jersey. This study set out to evaluate the implementation of Opt for Help and Hope as a program operating in the novel context of municipal courts. METHODS: This cross

Generating Global Priority for Addressing Rheumatic Heart Disease: A Qualitative Policy Analysis.

Background Rheumatic heart disease (RHD) poses a high burden in low-income countries, as well as among indigenous and other socioeconomically disadvantaged populations in high-income countries. Despite its severity and preventability, RHD receives insufficient global attention and resources. We conducted a qualitative policy analysis to investigate the reasons for recent growth but ongoing inadequacy in global priority for addressing RHD. Methods and Results Drawing on social science scholarship, we conducted a thematic analysis, triangulating among peer-reviewed literature, organizational doc
