Historically, hydrogen sulfide (H2S) poisoning has extremely high and irreparable mortality. Currently, the identification of H2S poisoning needs to combine with the case scene analysis in forensic medicine. The anatomy of the deceased seldom had obvious features. There are also a few reports about H2S poisoning in detail. As a result, we give a comprehensive analysis of the related knowledge on the forensic aspect of H2S poisoning. Furthermore, we provide the analytical methods of H2S and its metabolite-which may assist in H2S poisoning identification.

BACKGROUND: Calciphylaxis is a thrombotic vasculopathy characterized by painful necrotic ulcerations. There are no Food and Drug Administration approved therapies despite high mortality.
OBJECTIVE: To compare mortality and wound healing outcomes in patients treated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) in addition to intravenous sodium thiosulfate (IV STS) versus patients who received IV STS only. Findings were stratified by dialysis status and modality.
METHODS: 93 patients were included, with 57 patients in the control group (IV STS) and 36 patients in the treatment group (HBOT + IV STS).

Calcific uremic arteriolopathy is a rare, life-threatening syndrome of vascular calcification characterized by occlusion of microvessels that results in extremely painful skin necrosis. We present a case of sarcoidosis-associated hypercalcemia potentiating calcific uremic arteriolopathy in a patient with a left ventricular assist device. The patient's calcific uremic arteriolopathy was successfully treated with sodium thiosulfate. Clinicians should be vigilant in diagnosing calcific uremic arteriolopathy early since it is especially life-threatening in patients with multiple risk factors.

Microbial dark matter (MDM) represents a vast, uncultured fraction of microbial life with largely unknown ecological roles, particularly in extreme environments. This study investigates MDM in the hypersaline microbial mats of Solar Lake, Taba, Egypt, using shotgun metagenomics (∼70 M reads/sample; triplicate sampling across four sites).
