Guidewire Traction Retrieval of a Dislodged Classic Crown During Coronary Orbital Atherectomy.

BACKGROUND Heavily calcified coronary lesions often lead to stent underexpansion and procedural complications. Treatment comprises plaque mo … guide extension catheter were unsuccessful. Ultimately, the crown was retrieved by gently applying traction to the ViperWire Advance Flex Tip guidewire, pulling it into the guide catheter. The lesion was then stented with a drug-eluting stent and optimized via postdilation. Final angiography showed excellent results, and the patient recovered uneventfully …

Traction arthrography for quantitative assessment of hip distractibility in early hip disorders.

PURPOSE: Dynamic hip distractibility is an intraoperative marker of hip microinstability; however, a quantitative assessment in the outpatient setting has not been established. This study aimed to quantify hip distractibility using traction arthrography in patients with early hip disorders and to identify clinical and radiographic factors associated with increased distractibility. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed 84 patients (84 hips) with early hip disorders who underwent traction arthrography, including frank dysplasia (30 hips), borderline hip dysplasia (21 hips), labral tear (14 hips)…

Rare Common Peroneal Nerve Neuropraxia after Removal of Upper Tibial Pin Traction.

Common peroneal nerve (CPN) injury is an uncommon complication associated with skeletal traction. Neurological deficits occurring after removal of upper tibial pin traction (UTPT) are exceedingly rare and sparsely reported in the literature. A 27-year-old male sustained a closed left subtrochanteric femur fracture following a road traffic accident. Preoperative UTPT was applied with no immediate neurological deficit. UTPT was removed intraoperatively before definitive fixation. Postoperatively, the patient developed left-sided foot drop. Electromyography and nerve conduction velocity studies a…

Oculocardiac Reflex During Strabismus Surgery: Conjunctival Incision versus Standardized Rectus Muscle Traction.

BACKGROUND: Extraocular muscle (EOM) tension during strabismus surgery produces trigemino-vagal bradycardia as a form of the oculocardiac reflex (OCR). Surface pain in the eye can cause bradycardia in premature infant eye examinations, so we evaluated the effect on the heart rate of different aspects of strabismus surgery. METHODS: Electrocardiograph heart rate (H.R.) was monitored during outpatient strabismus surgery without anticholinergic or local anesthetic. The impact of limbus-based conjunctival incision was compared to 200 gram, 10-second tension on rectus muscles. RESULTS: The 239 pa

Bronchoscopic Internal Traction for Airway Foreign Body Removal via Tracheotomy Under ECMO.

We present a technique utilizing internal traction-assisted mobilization to effectively retrieve objects, such as pen caps, that lack an external grasping surface and resist conventional rigid bronchoscopy. In this case, tracheotomy served as an alternative extraction route for impacted foreign bodies that failed to pass across the glottis or subglottic region. Concurrently, ECMO maintains oxygenation during complex airway manipulation and reduces the risk of hypoxia.

Spontaneous resolution of vitreomacular traction following deep scuba diving: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Vitreomacular traction is characterized by incomplete posterior vitreous detachment, wherein persistent adherence of the vitreous to the macula results in tractional distortion and associated visual symptoms. Although spontaneous resolution of vitreomacular traction may occur, surgical intervention is typically pursued when significant visual impairment occurs. The mechanism by which spontaneous release of vitreomacular traction is unclear, as there are numerous intrinsic and extrinsic factors that affect the eye. This case highlights the potential effects of sudden changes in baro…
