Cisgender Black women living with HIV (BWLWH) face significant intersectional stigma, racism, and discrimination, contributing to lower adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART). Given the role of religion and spirituality in Black communities, we explored their influence on HIV treatment. We conducted semi-structured interviews with 30 BWLWH in Washington, DC ( M age = 52.7, SD = 15.95), living with HIV for an average of 26 years ( SD = 9.72); 33% were virally suppressed. Molecular Epidemiology of Individuals Experiencing Unstable Housing or Living Homeless at HIV Diagnosis: Analysis of HIV Surveillance Data in King County, Washington.

We examined patterns of genetic clustering among individuals diagnosed with HIV between 2010 and 2018 using data from King County, Washington's National HIV Surveillance System. Among 2,371 individuals newly diagnosed with HIV, 231 (10%) experienced unstable housing or were living homeless at the time of diagnosis. Among the 1,658 (70%) people with an available HIV-1 pol gene sequence, 1,071 (65%) were identified to be part of 296 genetic clusters. OBJECTIVE: In 2012, possession of marijuana for nonmedical use was legalized in Washington State. This study examined how legalization affected alcohol and drug use in a sample of pregnant and parenting women with substance use disorders. Risk factors for HIV infection among injection drug users: results of blinded surveys in drug treatment centers, King County, Washington 1988-1991.

Among injection drug users (IDUs) entering drug treatment in King County, Washington between 1988 and 1991, we investigated HIV seroprevalence in relationship to demographic, sexual, and drug-use characteristics. Eighty-two of 3,039 (2.7%) IDUs tested HIV positive. Gay or bisexual men had the highest HIV prevalence (37.1%), followed by lesbian or bisexual women (8.3%), heterosexual men (2.3%), and heterosexual women (1.5%). Genomic sequencing of recent rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus 2 strains from diseased European rabbits supports a novel incursion into Washington State, USA.

Five feral European rabbits found dead in Washington state tested positive for rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus 2 (RHDV2) by qPCR. Genomic sequencing revealed a nearly identical RHDV2 strain present in the rabbits. The RHDV2 strain was determined to be divergent from previous United States detections, suggesting a novel RHDV2 incursion.

BACKGROUND: Chlamydia trachomatis is the most common reportable infection in the United States and can cause pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and tubal factor infertility (TFI). METHODS: We created life tables to estimate the "lifetime" risk of chlamydia diagnosis among women aged 15-34 years in King County, Washington, between 1992 and 2014.
