A 39-year-old tetraplegic patient had paralysis of elbow, thumb, and finger extension and thumb and finger flexion. Focal fibrocartilaginous dysplasia is an uncommon, benign bone lesion that causes deformity in young children. It is most commonly encountered in the proximal tibia, with few cases documented in the upper extremity. We report 3 cases affecting the ulna. Iatrogenic arteriovenous fistulas (AVF) are well described in adults; however, this complication is rarely described and reported in infants. We report the case of a 3-month-old infant with complicated gastroschisis requiring multiple venipunctures who presented with signs and symptoms suggestive of traumatic arteriovenous fistula. Ultrasound imaging confirmed the presence of a wide-necked AVF between the brachial artery and vein. The fistula was surgically repaired. This case report describes the clinical imaging and treatment options for infants with iatrogenic AVF.

An in vivo experimental study was performed of the temperatures produced by a setting plaster cast using hot and cold water. The results confirmed a statistical difference in the temperatures reached using hot and cold water. Forearm and below knee plasters did not represent a burn risk. Lower limb cylinder casts reached sufficient temperatures to cause burns with hot water but did not remain at these temperatures long enough to pose a clinical risk.

PURPOSE: To determine the indications and benefits of ectopic implantation in the salvage of amputated thumb.
BASIC PROCEDURES: Two cases of avulsed amputated thumbs were temporarily ectopically implanted onto the forearm and foot, with microvascular anastomoses. When the stump condition allowed, and the soft-tissue defects were repaired, the ectopic implanted thumbs were replanted to their anatomic positions.

This article introduces a new surgical method for one-stage reconstruction of the penis. It is applied to the reconstruction of the microphallus as well as to traumatic cases with the residual stump of the amputated penis not less than 3 cm long. A unique case of normolipaemic eruptive xanthomas due to generalized oedema is described. We propose that in this patient eruptive xanthomas were caused by the capillary leak syndrome. The increased vascular permeability could be responsible for leakage of lipoproteins into the dermis with subsequent phagocytosis by histiocytic cells.
