Thin section contiguous axial computer tomography (CT) was used to demonstrate fractures of the occipital condyle and craniocervical ligament injury. During a 12-month period, 55 consecutive patients who had sustained high energy blunt trauma to the head or upper cervical region were examined (38 male and 17 female, age range 3-80 years, median 24 years). Over a four-year period (1987-1990), 28 cases of fat embolism syndome (FES) were prospectively evaluated for clinical, hematological and biochemical manifestations and prognostication. In a total of 2,112 patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 1.3% were diagnosed as having FES which was also seen in 2.6% of the patients with polytrauma. OBJECTIVE: Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD) is a rare and idiopathic nonneoplastic disease of histiocytes that is characterized by lymphadenopathy and extranodal disease. In this study, we documented anatomical preferences, imaging findings, comorbid diseases, and ethnic differences in 32 RDD patients.
