Bio-inspired terrain perception for snake robots: spectral analysis of vertical undulation and sidewinding.

While snake robots offer exceptional potential for exploration in confined and unstructured environments, their capacity for active adaptation is currently hindered by a lack of robust terrain classification. Inspired by the mechanosensory perception of biological snakes, this study proposes a proprioceptive terrain classification framework relying solely on a single uniaxial accelerometer. To capture the coupled robot-terrain interaction dynamics from the complex, non-stationary signals inherent in floating-base locomotion, we introduce the band-limited spectral magnitude feature, which quant

Robotic lateral abdominal hernia repair and outcomes a systematic review and proportional meta-analysis.

PURPOSE: Lateral abdominal hernias (LAH) are defined by the presence of a hernia between the linea semilunaris and paraspinal muscles. This type of hernia presents a challenge to repair due to its location and the complex relationship it has with anatomical structures. Traditionally, they were repaired using an open approach; however, over the last decade, minimally invasive surgery (MIS) techniques have gained popularity, with an increased use of robotic platforms. The robotic platform provides dexterity with articulated instruments and enhanced optics, enabling the performance of complex LAH

Robotic repair of Post-Transplant lateral incisional hernias: outcomes in complex hernia management.

INTRODUCTION: Post-transplant incisional hernias (PTIH) are a common complication in transplant patients, arising due to chronic immunosuppression, associated comorbidities, and the type of incisions used, most commonly lateral. PTIH repair is complex, frequently requiring abdominal wall reconstruction techniques, including transversus abdominis release (TAR). The robotic platform offers enhanced anatomical identification and precision, particularly in cases where the dissection plane is limited and complex, improving surgeons’ dexterity. Our objective was to evaluate the management and outcom
