Gastric dilatation-volvulus is a medical and surgical emergency that principally affects large-breed dogs. Surgical treatment should be undertaken as soon as the patient has been stabilized with fluid therapy and decompression. A gastrectomy might be required if the stomach is becoming necrotic. A gastropexy is required to prevent recurrence.

Cannabis is one of the world's most widely consumed illicit substances. In addition to being widely available, its potency has increased up to 100-fold over the last 25 years. In parallel with these plant breeding efforts, artificial products called synthetic cannabinoids (SC) have been developed in laboratories. They are more potent and dangerous than natural cannabis. This article focuses on the risks associated with SC use, their treatment, and screening from the perspective of emergency or primary care physicians.

The aim of present study was an investigations of embryotoxic, teratogenic and gonadotoxic effects of zeolites of Pashensky and Chongurinsky (chongurin) deposits. Zeolites are suggested as feed additives in stock-breeding animal and poultry-keeping. In long-term experiments it was shown that zeolites included in animal diet as much as 5% of diet mass had no unfavourable effect on animals. Negative effect on growth and development of generation, hematologic parameters of blood and activity of some enzymes were also not observed.

A mummified fetus was aborted at 284 days of gestation from a Quarter Horse mare with a history of consecutive abortions. The abortion occurred 12 days after administration of supplemental progestogen had been discontinued. Results of a breeding soundness evaluation revealed that this mare had a short uterine body. Other abnormalities were not discovered. This condition may have been responsible for repeated abortions in this mare, and may represent a cause of fetal mummification other than twin pregnancy in mares.

BACKGROUND: The inclusion of sustainable protein sources in poultry feed has become essential for improving animal welfare in livestock production. Black soldier fly larvae are a promising solution due to their high protein content and sustainable production. However, most research has focused on fast-growing poultry breeds, while the effects on native breeds, such as the Bianca di Saluzzo, are less explored.
