The authors reported the case of a 27-year-old man who sustained an irreducible postero-lateral traumatic dislocation of the hip with capsular and labral entrapment. Initial X-rays showed only a small acetabular fragment. The common complications associated with a posterior polar cataract (PPC) with deficient or weak posterior capsules (PCs) are posterior capsular rupture (PCR), vitreous loss, and luxation of lens material into the vitreous. Often the commonly used technique of hydrodelineation in such cataracts can lead to accidental hydrodissection, and even the slightest nucleus rotation during phacoemulsification can cause the PC to give way. We describe a modified relatively safe technique (Trident technique) for managing the nucleus in PPCs which does not involve any hydroprocedure or nucleus rotation.

A synthetic method for obtaining enantiopure and twisted baskets of type (P)-3 is described. These chiral cavitands were found to fold quinoline gates, at the rim of their twisted platform, in acetonitrile and give molecular capsules that assemble into large unilamellar vesicles. In a less polar dichloromethane, however, cup-shaped (P)-3 packed into vesicles but with the quinoline gates in an unfolded orientation. The ability of twisted baskets to form functional nanostructured materials could be of interest for building stereoselective sensors and catalysts.

Trichinosis was experimentally induced in rats. The morphology of encystation of Trichinella larvae was studied in the striated muscles. The efficacy of albendazole was evaluated in different intensity of Trichinella larvae infestation in the striated muscles of the laboratory animals. Encystation was shown to cease at 21 days. Albendazole showed high activity against intestinal and encapsulated larvae of Trichinella, leading to 100% death of T. spiralis. Capsules and Trichinella larvae were described to be destructed after treatment with albendazole 15 mg/kg twice daily for 10 days.

This article deals with numerous gray and white matter components of the forebrain, excluding the cerebral cortex. The basal ganglia, amygdalae, and basal forebrain structures are discussed including their groupings and subdivisions, as are the thalami, hypothalamus, and other derivatives of the diencephalon. The white matter structures considered include the capsules, optic and auditory radiations, and bundles ending or arising in the hypothalamus; all the major commissural tracts; and several major long association bundles that may be accurately located even if not discretely visualized.
