OBJECTIVE: To describe an unusual case of heterotopic pregnancy.
DESIGN: Case report.
SETTING: Division of Reproductive Medicine and Infertility, Women & Infants' Hospital of Rhode Island, Brown Medical School. Providence, Rhode Island.
PATIENT(S): A woman with an unusual heterotopic pregnancy who had had prior bilateral salpingectomies, but delivered a healthy female infant near term after requiring laparotomy for a ruptured left cornual pregnancy 28 days after embryo transfer.
INTERVENTION(S): IVF, laparotomy with wedge resection of the left tubal cornu, and near-term cesarean section.

OBJECTIVE: To report a rare case of spontaneous pregnancy following bilateral salpingectomy.
DESIGN: Case report.
SETTING: Maternity unit at a district general hospital in the United Kingdom.
PATIENT(S): A healthy 38-year-old woman with a history of bilateral salpingectomy.
INTERVENTION(S): Ultrasound scan and serum beta hcG used to diagnose the pregnancy and for follow-up.
MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE(S): Recognition and successful management of the pregnancy.

Genital tuberculosis is an important cause of infertility in developing countries and hysterosalpingography (HSG) is the initial procedure performed for the evaluation. Reviewing 37 cases of female genital tuberculosis, we encountered various appearances on HSG. Of 579 HSGs performed over a period of 4 years, 492 (85%) were performed as part of infertility work up. Pattern of infertility cases attending the gynaecologic out patient clinic of Ogun State University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu Nigeria is presented. The incidence of infertility was found to be 14.8% with a mean duration of 3.38 +/- 1.65 years. Secondary infertility predominated with 78.3% incidence. The result of the Scandinavian multicentre study on salpingectomy prior to IVF has promoted a discussion on whether there is a risk of unnecessary salpingectomies being performed. This study examines the experience with this type of surgery at Baskent University Hospital, Ankara, Turkey, from the gynecologists' point of view.
