Zygomycosis is a lethal and invasive mold infection that is often associated with hematological malignancies. The keys for successful treatment include making a rapid diagnosis and appropriately administering antifungal agents. We herein report the early diagnosis of a case of zygomycosis in a patient with acute myeloid leukemia using a deoxyribonucleic acid sequence analysis. We successfully performed allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation with the use of high-dose liposomal amphotericin B and granulocyte transfusion.

Precursor T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-LBL) is a clinically aggressive disease, associated with a high subsequent relapse rate. We treated a pediatric patient with T-LBL who relapsed after an autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation. Unmanipulated peripheral blood was used as a source for the graft. A pilot trial of combined chemotherapy with paclitaxel, doxorubicin and cisplatin was conducted in patients with advanced endometrial cancer. OBJECTIVE: We report a single-centered, Phase I pilot trial, testing the enteral administration of an experimental amniotic fluid-like solution to 10 neonates who were otherwise "NPO" following surgery for congenital bowel abnormalities. A 53-year-old man underwent chemotherapy (CDDP, VDS, MMC) for treatment of lung cancer. He was given 125 micrograms/m2 of GM-CSF subcutaneously every day for 8 consecutive days, in order to prevent neutropenia.
