The Fe(3)O(4) ferrofluids have been prepared using sodium alginate (Na-AL) as a stabilizing agent. The alginate can prevent the aggregation of magnetic nanoparticles and hence contributed to higher stability for the ferrofluids. Furthermore, the alginate component in the ferrofluids was crosslinked by Ca(2+) to produce magnetic microspheres. The swelling behavior of magnetic microspheres showed a pH-dependence, and hence determined the drug release process under various pH conditions. This study examined changes in elastic modulus, mineral density and ultrastructure of resin-infiltrated dentin after biomimetic remineralization. Sixty demineralized dentin beams were infiltrated with Clearfil Tri-S Bond, One-Step or Prime&Bond NT. Single crystals of bisthiourea cadmium bromide (BTCB), a new metallorganic material crystallizing in orthorhombic system were grown from slow evaporation solution growth. The grown crystals were characterized by X-ray diffraction, FTIR and FT-Raman spectral studies. The crystals were also subjected to TGA/DTA analysis and second harmonic generation test. 7-[(2,2-Dimethyl)propyl]-1-methyl xanthine (CAS 155006-67-0, MX2/120) is a new potent antibronchospastic agent with negligible side effects. The synthesis involves the alkylation of 3-benzyl-1-methyl xanthine with neopentyl bromide followed by removal of the benzyl protecting group. Main physico-chemical properties were determined using NMR, MS, IR, UV spectra and X-ray crystal structure. A quantitative determination of substances related to MX2/120 and of residual solvents by means of HPLC and GC, respectively, is described. MX2/120 is safely stored at room temperature for a long time.
