BACKGROUND: Chronic renal failure (CRF) presents with an array of cutaneous manifestations. Newer changes are being described since the advent of hemodialysis, which prolongs the life expectancy, giving time for these changes to manifest.
AIM: The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of dermatologic problems among patients with chronic renal failure (CRF) undergoing hemodialysis.

Each year in Hong Kong, about 350,000 surgical procedures are conducted for various types of conditions. Previous review indicated that the prevalence of hypertrophic scar among Caucasians ranged from 15% to 63% and that the incidence was even higher among non-Caucasians. An 11-year-old neutered female Irish setter was presented with a six-week history of blepharoconjunctivitis affecting the right eye. A conjunctival biopsy was taken and histopathological examination revealed a heavy cellular infiltrate involving the epithelial and subepithelial tissues. Immunohistochemical staining showed the intraepithelial cell population to uniformly have the phenotype CD3 (T-cell specific marker). A diagnosis of epitheliotropic lymphoma (mycosis fungoides) was made. The use of a synthetic retinoid and topical prednisolone in the management of the case is discussed.

We describe five patients from three different families with microcephalic osteodysplastic primordial dwarfism type I (MOPD I), which was molecularly confirmed by homozygosity for the g.51G >A and g.55G >A mutations in RNU4ATAC, respectively. The patients showed the classical phenotype and demonstrated in addition variable degrees of gyration abnormalities and malformations of the callosal body with an interhemispheric cyst.
