OBJECTIVE: Fenvalerate (20% EC) is a synthetic pyrethroid, which is commonly used in India by farmers for the protection of many food and vegetable crops against a wide variety of insects. However, its inhalation toxicity data is very limited in the literature due to the fact that the exposure levels associated with these effects were usually not reported. Hence, inhalation exposure was carried out to investigate the hepatotoxic effects.

Two strains of Pseudomonas putida (epI and epII), isolated previously from ethoprophos-treated soil, were able to degrade ethoprophos (10 mg 1(-1)) in a mineral salts medium plus nitrogen (MSMN) in less than 50 h with a concurrent population growth. When adult cat fleas, Ctenocephalides felis (Bouché), were fed concentrations of < or = 0.08 ppm lufenuron in cattle blood, egg hatch did not differ significantly from the controls. However, as the concentration of lufenuron in blood increased from 0.125 to 1.0 ppm egg hatch decreased to 64 and 2%, respectively. Most of these eggs contained fully developed larvae. Two studies were performed to compare the persistent efficacy of doramectin and ivermectin in swine experimentally infested with Sarcoptes scabiei var. suis. Experimental application of Hyalomma dromedarii pheromone-impregnated in cyfluthrin (pyrethroid) decoys on experimentally infested camels revealed efficacy rate of 85.33%, while the control group showed normal pattern of tick engorgement.
