Angiosarcoma arising from chronic lymphedema is referred to as Stewart-Treves syndrome. It typically occurs as a complication of long-lasting lymphedema of the arm after mastectomy and/or radiotherapy for breast cancer. Angiosarcoma associated with idiopathic lymphedema of the lower extremity is extremely rare. We report a case of diffuse angiosarcoma of the leg in a patient with a 25-year history of idiopathic lymphedema. Despite rapid aggressive surgical treatment, the patient died 6 weeks after diagnosis.

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to examine whether mechanical elevation of the velum can directly affect the levator veli palatini muscle (LVP) activity using normal speakers as subjects.
DESIGN: Each subject was instructed to produce /mu/, /u/, /pu/, /su/, and /tsu/ in a speech task and to blow with maximum possible effort. Smoothed electromyographic activity of the LVP was recorded with an experimental palatal lift prosthesis (PLP) both in place and removed.

Vertical C-2 body fractures are presented in 15 patients with clinical and imaging correlations that suggest the existence of a variety of mechanisms of injury. In these patients, clinical and imaging correlations were derived by: 1) defining the point of impact by clinical examination; 2) defining the point of impact by soft-tissue changes on cranial magnetic resonance (MR) imaging or computerized tomography (CT); 3) obtaining an accurate history of the mechanism of injury; and 4) spine imaging (x-ray studies, CT, and MR imaging) of the C-2 body fracture and surrounding bone and soft tissue.

No focused report on the differences in clinical and radiographic features of spinal LCH among children, adolescents, and adults exists.
