This work aimed to synthesize new derivatives of 2-hydrazinylpyridine-3-carbonitrile and to investigate their biological activity as safeners for the 2,4-D herbicide. Two new vanadyl complexes of N-confused porphyrins (NCPs), [VONCTPP] (V-1) and [VONCP(OMe)8] (V-2), have been synthesized for the first time … ry with excellent TOF values (4.7-6.3 s-1 for V-1 and 7.3-8.7 s-1 for V-2) using KBr as a source of bromine and H2O2 as a green oxidant in aqueous acidic medium at 298 K. Notably, both catalysts show excellent recyclability over five cycles. The vanadyl-metalated NCPs exhibit excellent stability in the air.

Brominated disinfection byproducts (Br-DBPs) may be generated in high concentrations during the chlorinated washing of brined kimchi cabbage (BKC) in kimchi manufacturing. However, the generation of these DBPs is not sufficiently understood. We report novel pseudorotaxanes based on the complexation between pillar[4]arene[1]quinone and 1,10-dibromodecane. The complexation is found to have a 1:1 host-guest complexation stoichiometry in chloroform but a 2:1 host-guest complexation stoichiometry in the solid state. The isomerization of dimethyl 2,3-dibromofumarate in chloroform solutions was investigated by the combination of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The bromination of dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate leading to dimethyl 2,3-dibromofumarate produces the trans isomer initially, which however converts into the more stable cis isomer. The conversion from trans to cis is spontaneous and greatly accelerated by light.

We report a 1,2-migration (aryl dance reaction) of the aryl group on heteroles. AlCl3 can efficiently convert C3-arylheteroles to C2-arylheteroles. Depending on the electron density of the substrate, conversion from C2- to C3-arylheteroles was also possible with catalytic Zn(OTf)2. A one-pot aryl dance/acylation or bromination and arylation/aryl dance cascade was also demonstrated.
