BACKGROUND: Juxtapapillary capillary hemangiomas can occur as isolated clinical abnormalities or a manifestation of von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease. Because of the location of these vascular tumors on or adjacent to the optic disc, any therapeutic treatment option involves risk. Management typically includes close monitoring, with treatment initiation as the tumor progresses or when vision is compromised. This case report reviews this condition while highlighting the treatment and potential complications associated with juxtapapillary capillary hemangioma.

Although the head and neck is not an uncommon region, the nasal cavity is extremely rare sites for lobular capillary hemangioma (LCH) in children. The authors report a case of an 11-year-old boy with LCH of the nasal cavity presenting with nasal obstruction and epistaxis. To our knowledge, on searching the English literature, only nine cases of hemangioma of nasal cavities have been reported in children since 1985. A method for the separation of derivatized saccharides in tobacco with high performance capillary electrophoresis and ultraviolet spectrophotometry (HPCE-UV) is presented. Five saccharides in tobacco were derivatized with p-aminobenzonitrile, separated at pH 10.5 with 50 mmol/L borate buffer containing 5% (volume fraction, the same in the following percentage concentration) methanol, 5% acetonitrile, 2.5% ethyleneglycol, 2.5% 2-propanol and 1 mmol/L sodium dodecyl sulfate, and detected at 285 nm.

PURPOSE: Retrospective analysis of the morphologic and hemodynamic characteristics of hemangiomas in infants provided by color Doppler sonography.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: 94 hemangiomas were studied in 87 children separated into four classes of age (0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-12 months, > 12 months). The capillary electrochromatographic separation performance of hydrophobic amines and a related quaternary ammonium compound on continuous beds based on polymers of acrylamide has been studied. The chromatographic bed is polymerized in situ and the character of the polymers with regard to hydrophobicity and charge has been systematically changed by regulating its content of isopropyl and sulfonate ligands, respectively.
