A case of a reparative spindle cell nodule involving the endocervix is reported. The nodule was present in a curetted specimen of the endocervix 2 weeks following an endometrial curettage that showed adenocarcinoma of the endometrium. The lesion was interpreted at first as a carcinosarcoma until the historical facts were appreciated.

A 35-year-old female presented with swelling in the soft palate. Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) revealed pleomorphic adenoma, and on histopathological examination, it was diagnosed as carcinosarcoma/salivary duct carcinoma in the minor salivary gland, which was confirmed by immunohistochemical stains. We report this case for its rarity.

Parotid gland is the most common location of malignant mixed tumors. Three different subtypes of these tumors exist: carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma, carcinosarcoma, and metastasizing mixed tumor. Carcinoma ex-pleomorphic adenoma is by far the most common subtype. Although unusual sites of these tumors have been published, we report an extremely rare case of a malignant mixed tumor located in the nasal cavity.

Mesothelin (MSLN) represents an attractive molecule for targeted cancer therapies. In the present study, we screened for the K-ras exon 2 point mutations in a group of 87 gynecological neoplasms (82 endometrial carcinomas, four carcinomas of the uterine cervix and one uterine carcinosarcoma) using the non-isotopic PCR-SSCP-direct sequencing techniques. Colonic sarcomatoid carcinomas are known to be extremely rare tumors, with only 22 cases reported either as sarcomatoid carcinomas or carcinosarcomas in the literature. The known characteristics are rapid growth, a high recurrence rate, and an extremely poor prognosis. Herein we report a case of a patient who had a sarcomatoid carcinoma of the sigmoid colon and died only 22 days after surgery due to rapid tumor growth.
