In previous papers, the synthesis and chemical properties of iron-complexed azo and formazan dyes were reported. It was shown that in certain cases iron could be substituted for the traditionally used metals such as chromium and cobalt, without having an adverse effect on dye stability. Multivitamins and mineral preparations are widely used for infants and children. All of these preparations contain a variety of excipients ("inert ingredients"). Excipients are generally safe; however, adverse effects have been attributed to them. Complete information about the excipients in various preparations is not readily available. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the association between skin bleaching agents and the development of cutaneous malignancy.
METHODS: A scoping literature search was conducted in the PubMed and Google Scholar databases to identify studies and reports that included both skin depigmentation practices and development of cutaneous malignancy. Articles published in English and French were considered for review.
