A combination of diarrhoea and malnutrition frequently occurs in HIV seropositive children and constitutes a bad prognosis factor. The impact of dehydration induced by diarrhoea in these children has not as yet been assessed and constitutes the aim of this study. We carried out molecular screening for mutations in the cystic fibrosis transmembrane regulator (CFTR) gene in eight children of Sardinian descent seen because of hypotonic dehydration associated with hyponatremia, hypochloremia, hypokalemia, and metabolic alkalosis; none had pulmonary or pancreatic involvement. Without the derivatization of 2H-chromene hemiacetals to 2H-chromene acetals, the direct C-OH/C-H coupling reaction has been accomplished with water as the only by-product. With the use of Sn(OTf)2 as the promoter, the reaction goes smoothly under mild conditions.

This study aimed to develop gel-creams from the lyophilised product of betamethasone dipropionate-loaded lipid-core nanocapsule suspensions and evaluated its efficacy in a model of contact dermatitis.
