We present four cases of children less than 2 years of age, seen in four different practices, with a similar, unique, and specific presentation of diaper dermatitis, all while using Pampers Baby Dry with Drymax technology. To date, no reported cases exist of allergic contact dermatitis to Pampers Dryweave in medical literature.

Propolis, also known as bee glue, is a substance collected by worker bees and it is used as a material for constructing and maintaining their beehives. It has been used topically and orally by humans for its anti-inflammatory properties. However, the growing use of propolis has been paralleled by reports of allergic contact dermatitis as a reaction to the substance. Contact dermatitis with generalized cutaneous manifestations elicited by propolis ingestion has not been previously reported. Here we report on the first case of systemic contact dermatitis from propolis ingestion in a 36-year-old

The relationship between allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) and age has not been well documented. We searched for articles and textbooks based on age-ACD relationship and evaluated relevant data. The frequency of skin reactions to allergens increased with age in some studies, whereas others showed no definite effect. This might be caused by variations in study design, genetic factors or by external influences such as from different regions and environmental exposure. In general, investigators agree that elderly patients were more likely to have multiple contact allergies than younger persons. T

INTRODUCTION: Dental professionals may be at increased risk of developing occupational allergic diseases specially to methacrylates that can permeate protective disposable gloves.
CASE REPORT: We presented a case of occupational allergic contact dermatitis in a 28-year-old dental technician. The patient had complained of itching and cracking of fingers for 6 months. The dermatitis improved over weekends. Skin erythema and scaling were present with primarily involvement of the fingertips. Patch testing with dental series gave positive vesicular reaction to methyl methacrylate. Follow-up after

Glatiramer acetate (Copaxone(®)) is an immunomodulatory polypeptide used in patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis. It represents a safe treatment option with mild side effects. In this study, we look at a 39-year-old woman who received glatiramer acetate as subcutaneous injections for two months and developed contact dermatitis. The drug had to be stopped, and treatment with topical prednisone was initiated. Prick/scratch testing was negative but the lymphocyte transformation test was highly positive for glatiramer acetate. This is the first report on contact dermatitis induced

Reports of vitamin E-induced allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) and frequent use of vitamin-E derivatives (tocopherol, tocopheryl linoleate, tocopherol acetate, etc) in skin care products deserves further investigation into tolerability and suitability of vitamin E in skin care preparations. A PubMed search was conducted to review the prevalence of vitamin E-induced ACD. It revealed 931 cases of vitamin E-induced ACD mainly from one large study. There were no reported deaths and only three patients required hospitalization for treatment. It appears that vitamin E-induced ACD is an uncommon phen

BACKGROUND: many topical products are used in the genital region. Allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) may develop from product use or due to treatment of an underlying dermatosis.
OBJECTIVES: our goal was to identify the frequency of ACD and identify top allergens in the genital region.
METHODS: data were analyzed for 1,238 patients tested between January 1990 and December 2006. Fifteen allergens caused reactions at rates greater than 1%. Thirteen anatomic regions were assessed. Statistical analyses were by chi-square test and Fisher exact test. Adjusted level of significance due to multiple t

Topical antibiotics are frequently introduced in therapy by various specialists, e.g., dermatologists-venereologists, ENT specialists, proctologists, ophthalmologists, and others. In dermatology, topical antibiotics are used in the treatment of superficial inflammatory skin lesions, acne and rosacea. These agents are also used in the prevention of inflammatory lesions after surgical and corrective procedures. Long-term and uncontrolled application of topical antibiotics, on the skin with impaired protective barrier in particular, implies a risk for the development of hypersensitivity to these
