OBJECTIVE: To evaluate an efficacy of surgical treatment of patients with benign tumors of the major duodenal papilla.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: For the period from January 2015 to January 2020, sixteenth patients with benign tumors of the major duodenal papilla were treated at the Sklifosovsky Research Institute for Emergency Care. There were 7 men (43.7%) and 9 women (56.3%). Tumor dimension ranged from 1.0 to 4.0 cm (mean 2.5 cm).

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: the prevalence of gastric polyps in esophagogastroduodenoscopies (EGDs) ranges between 0.33 and 6.35%. The relative frequency of histological subspecies varies widely among published series. The objective is to describe the endoscopic and histological characteristics of the polypoid lesions, and to study possible associations.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: we retrospectively revised the EGDs done in our center in 2009. Demographic, endoscopic and histological data were gathered. We proceeded to a descriptive analysis and studied possible associations.

We herein report a case of early stage ampullary cancer, treated by endoscopic papillectomy, in which tumor extension was confined to the mucosa and adjacent epithelium of the glands in Oddi's sphincter. A 77-year-old man underwent screening esophagogastroduodenoscopy, which revealed a mass in the papilla of Vater, which was well-differentiated adenocarcinoma as proven by biopsy. This report describes clinical and parasitological findings of an 82-yr-old female patient who lived in a local rural village and suffered from severe chronic anemia for several years. She was transferred to the National Police Hospital in Seoul for management of severe dyspnea and dizziness. At admission, she showed symptoms or signs of severe anemia. Treatment of peptic duodenal and gastric ulcers has improved in efficiency and become less invasive. There is still a considerable risk of re-bleeding (15-20%) and the mortality remains high (5-14%). A Danish study from 2000 showed that scheduled second look endoscopy (SLE) the day after the primary intervention decreased the re-bleeding rate. Studies have questioned this and suggest that SLE decreases the risk of re-bleeding, but do not reduce mortality. Since SLE is debated and a recent national survey found a variable practice, the evidence has been reviewed critically.
