Septic shock causes an extensive inflammatory reaction including increased capillary leakage and a decrease in systemic blood pressure. Human septic shock can be replicated in the endotoxaemic pig. Serum glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH) activity was greatly raised (up to 830 times the upper limit of normal) in 16 patients with Reye's syndrome. BACKGROUND: Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor-induced angioedema (AE-ACEI) is a life-threatening adverse event; globally, it is the most common cause of emergency presentations with angioedema. Several genome-wide association studies (GWASs) have found genomic associations with AE-ACEI.
