BACKGROUND: The experimental Thulium fiber laser (TFL) is currently being studied as a potential alternative lithotripter to the clinical gold standard Holmium:YAG laser. ZnSnO3 one-dimensional (1D) strutures were synthesized by using an evaporation technique. The morphology, crystal structure, and enhanced sensing properties of the ZnSnO3 structures functionalized with Pd to CO gas at 300 degrees C were investigated. Forty-four percent of hospital patients with indwelling catheters can develop significant bacteriuria within 72 hours of catheterisation. It is, therefore, critical that catheters are manufactured with perfectly smooth surfaces and apertures to reduce the potential for infection. An ultrasonic cutting technology is described here that produces smooth apertures and eliminates problems associated with debris.

Various problems and complications have been reported during transcatheter closure of ostium secundum atrial septal defect with Amplatzer septal occluder. We report an unusual problem that was responsible for incomplete expansion of the waist of the device, not yet reported in world literature. A polyester band in continuation with the polyester mesh was found constricting the waist of the device, which after being cut led to successful redeployment of the device.

UNLABELLED: The use of IIbIIIa receptor blockers decreases the number of major ischemic adverse cardiac events during PCI. However, microinfarcts (post procedural CK-MB elevations) still occur despite optimal antithrombotic treatment. In patients (pts) with increased risk of atheroembolization during PCI the use of additional mechanical protection of embolization can be considered. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to calculate the retinal irradiance and maximum permissible exposure time (MPE) using high plus fundus biomicroscopy lenses.
METHODS: Four Volk handheld condensing lenses (+78 D, +90 D, Superfield NC, and Super 66) were tested with biomicroscopes from three manufacturers (Nikon, Topcon, and Zeiss) on both high and medium illumination.
