The availability of MoAbs now allows the accurate quantification of the individual C4 isotypes, C4A and C4B. Using a sensitive two-site immunoradiometric technique to measure serum levels of C4A and C4B, we studied the relationship between genotype and phenotype and physiological factors affecting C4 expression in 129 fully genotyped healthy subjects. A cellular enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect circulating anti-endothelial cell antibodies (AECA) in sera of patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis (RA). We characterized neutrophil autoantigens using an immunoblotting technique with antibodies obtained from patients with autoimmune neutropenia. These results were correlated with serologic characterization of the antibodies, using indirect immunofluorescence and leukoagglutination. We studied the polyethylene (PEG) precipitability of monomeric human IgE, and of human IgE artificially complexed with rabbit anti-human IgE. At conditions where precipitation of monomeric IgE did not occur, from 0.2 to 20% of the complexed IgE was precipitated. LGL leukemia results from a chronic, clonal proliferation of LGL. Chronic neutropenia with recurrent bacterial infection and splenomegaly are common clinical manifestations. We present two rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients suffering from disturbances of the symphysis pubis. Radiography revealed one with pelvic ring disruption with symphysis pubis diastasis, and the other with osteolysis at both pubic rami and disruption of the superior aspect of the symphysis pubis. Both cases had received long-term corticosteroid therapy, including pulse therapy. We recommend reducing the corticosteroid dose to prevent disturbances of the symphysis pubis especially in RA patients on long-term steroid therapy.

Clinical observations suggest that treatment of Rituximab might be less effective in patients with nephrotic range proteinuria when compared to nonnephrotic patients. An enzyme immunoassay using eluates was developed for the quantitation of granulocyte antibodies in sera. Incubation of donor granulocytes with sera containing granulocyte alloantibodies (NA1, NA2, NB1, 5b, HLA) or autoantibodies resulted in a significantly higher amount of immunoglobulin G (IgG) per cell than did incubation with control sera. Nodular regenerative hyperplasia of the liver is an infrequent condition characterized by transformation of the hepatic parenchyma into nodules with only mild fibrosis.
