BACKGROUND: Cholecystitis with incarcerated gallstones (CIG) is a type of acute abdomen in the field of hepatobiliary surgery. Whether gallbladder-preserving surgery (GPS) can be performed to treat it, however, depends on the improvement of gallbladder contractile function.
