We successfully treated two rare cases of coronary aneurysm with fistula. Case 1;A 65-year-old female referred to our hospital with the coronary aneurysm and fistula. Right coronary aneurysm with fistula leading to coronary sinus was observed. Coronary bypass surgery using a saphenous vein to #4PD was performed, and two right ventricle branches were reconstructed. Coronary aneurysm was resected. Case 2;A 46-year-old male was admitted with chest discomfort. Coronary aneurysm with fistula from the left main trunk to left ventricle was demonstrated. Ligation of the coronary artery aneurysm and su…

Iatrogenic arteriovenous fistula of major neck vessels is a rare complication but can occur after central venous catheterization. Symptoms can range from nothing to severe heart failure and management can be particularly complex. We report a case that we treated recently in our department.

Nasal septal surgery is one of the most common otolaryngology procedures performed, with rare occurrences of major postoperative complications. Oronasal fistula is a rare complication of septal surgery, with only few cases being reported in the literature. It is commonly caused by a congenital cleft palate, cleft palate surgery, traumatic injuries, infections, or neoplasms; however, it does not usually occur post-septal surgery. Here, we report the case of a 55-year-old male who presented with a symptomatic oronasal fistula post-septoplasty. Unlike other reported cases, there were no features …

Arteriovenous fistula (AVF) involving the inferior mesenteric artery and vein is very rare with only 33 cases described in the literature and may be of congenital or acquired (iatrogenic or traumatic) or idiopathic etiology. The pathophysiology of AVF that acts as a left-to-right shunt has accounted for clinical signs and symptoms associated with ischemic colitis, portal hypertension, and heart failure. A low incidence and nonspecific clinical signs and symptoms such as abdominal pain, thrill and mass, lower and upper gastrointestinal bleeding make it difficult to establish a diagnosis of infe…

Coronary artery anomalies include anomalies of origin, termination, structure or course. Coronary artery fistulae (CAF) are classified as abnormalities of termination and are considered a major congenital anomaly. A coronary artery fistula involves a sizable communication between a coronary artery, bypassing the myocardial capillary bed and entering either a chamber of the heart (coronary-cameral fistula) or a great vessel. Bilateral coronary artery fistula, are a rare variant. We describe a bilateral CAF with angina and significant coronary artery disease requiring percutaneous coronary inter…

INTRODUCTION: Primary aorto-enteric fistula (PAEF) is a life threatening, spontaneous erosion and communication of the aorta and intestinal tract. Unlike secondary AEF, which occur following aortic surgery, they are extremely rare. The low clinical suspicion and difficulty in obtaining a definitive diagnosis make for a dismal prognosis.
CASE PRESENTATION: A literature review highlighted aetiology which included gallstone erosion, carcinoma of the pancreas and duodenal diverticulum. With written consent, we present the case of a 59 year old female, brought to the hospital following an episode …

OBJECTIVE: Anatomical anomaly/variation.
BACKGROUND: Cholecystoduodenal fistula (CDF) is the most common cholecystenteric fistula. It is a late complication of gallbladder disease with calculus and is mainly encountered in the elderly and females.

BACKGROUND: Splenic arteriovenous fistula is a rare entity which can present as portal hypertension and related symptoms.
CASE DESCRIPTION: A 60-year-old female attended the emergency department with haematemesis. She had microcytic anaemia and was admitted to the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department. Gastroduodenoscopy revealed three grade II-III varices in the distal oesophagus. The ultrasound image was suggestive of liver cirrhosis and showed signs of portal hypertension such as ascites, splenomegaly and dilated vessels near the splenic hilum. CT angiography showed an enlarged spleni…

OBJECTIVES: Vesicovaginal fistulas are uncommon and remain a surgical challenge. Abdominal hysterectomy remains their main cause. We present our experience in laparoscopic repair of vesicovaginal fistula.
METHODS: Between January 2006 and January 2008, 8 laparoscopic transvesical procedures for VVF repair were performed at our institution (O'Connor technique). For each case we analyzed demographic and surgical variables as well as the outcome. Surgical technique is also described.
RESULTS: Average patient age was 45 years. All patients had past history of hysterectomy and subsequent history …

Fistula-in-ano is the most common form of perineal sepsis. Typically, a fistula includes an internal opening, a track, and an external opening. The external opening might acutely appear following infection and/or an abscess, or more insiduously in a chronic manner. Management includes control of infection, assessment of the fistulous track in relation to the anal sphincter muscle, and finally, definitive treatment of the fistula. Fistulotomy was the most commonly used mode of management, but concerns about post-fistulotomy incontinence prompted the use of sphincter preserving techniques such a…

An 82-year-old woman was admitted with feculent vaginal discharge and bleeding per vagina. Investigations revealed the presence of a rectovaginal fistula with no obvious etiology. Due to the surgical team's previous experience with nicorandil-induced ulceration, the drug was stopped. The rectovaginal fistula healed completely within 6 months.

Anorectal abscess and fistula are among the most common diseases encountered in adults. Abscess and fistula should be considered the acute and chronic phase of the same anorectal infection. Abscesses are thought to begin as an infection in the anal glands spreading into adjacent spaces and resulting in fistulas in ~40% of cases. The treatment of an anorectal abscess is early, adequate, dependent drainage. The treatment of a fistula, although surgical in all cases, is more complex due to the possibility of fecal incontinence as a result of sphincterotomy. Primary fistulotomy and cutting setons …
