A review of the clinical and histological features of pustulosis palmaris et plantaris (PPP) was undertaken. The morphologic development of PPP is biphasic: the first phase consists of an eczematous reaction, and the second phase is the pustulation of eczematous vesicles. PPP may be aggravated by infections or non-infectious inflammatory processes elsewhere in the body. An abnormal glucose tolerance test was found in 55 (66.3%) of 83 patients with PPP. The deranged carbohydrate metabolism may be partly responsible for the increased susceptibility to focal infections in patients with PPP.

BACKGROUND: Experience in the use of apremilast in clinical practice complements the information available from pivotal clinical trials.
MATERIAL AND METHOD: Following a review of the literature, a panel of dermatologists with expertise in the management of psoriasis considered 5 scenarios in which the evidence supporting the use of apremilast to treat moderate psoriasis is insufficient or controversial. These scenarios were then assessed using a Delphi questionnaire.
RESULTS: Consensus was reached on 96 (67%) of the 143 items (positive in 85 and negative in 11). The therapeutic goal for apr

Pellagra is a nutritional disease caused by the deficiency of niacin. It presents with a photodistributed rash, gastrointestinal symptoms, and neuropsychiatric disturbances. In the Western world, this disease is mostly confined to alcoholics or the impoverished. However, this condition must be recognized in other clinical settings because it is easily treated and can be fatal if not identified. We describe a case of pellagra caused by esophageal carcinoma and alcoholism; we also review the literature.

Onychomadesis is the spontaneous, complete shedding of the nail from its proximal side, without pain or inflammation, following nail matrix arrest. This disorder is uncommon in children and it can occur in fingernails, toenails or both. It may be secondary to systemic disorders, Kawasaki disease, bullous dermatoses, drugs, paronychia, stress and radiotherapy. Since 2000, Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) has been described as a cause of onychomadesis, and has been associated with outbreaks of this condition in different regions of the world. HFMD is an infection characterized by vesicular a

BACKGROUND: Dermatophytoma, also described as a longitudinal streak/spike, is a form of onychomycosis that presents as yellow/white streaks or patches in the subungual space, with dense fungal masses encased in biofilm. This scoping review of the literature was conducted to address a general lack of information about the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and treatment of dermatophytomas in onychomycosis.
METHODS: A search was performed in the PubMed and Embase databases for the terms "longitudinal spike" or "dermatophytoma." Outcomes of interest were definition, prevalence, methods used for diag

BACKGROUND: Dermoscopy is a new method to diagnose and manage nail disorders. The definite dermoscopic finding for onychomycosis, however, is still debatable.
OBJECTIVE: To identify the dermoscopic features that help differentiate between onychomycosis (OM) and traumatic onychodystrophy (TOD).
METHODS: A prospective study of 65 patients with toenail abnormalities was conducted. The patients were classified into OM and TOD groups using mycological tests (potassium hydroxide test, fungal culture, and histological examination). OM was diagnosed from positive results for all tests, while TOD was
