Multiple Eruptive Pyogenic Granulomas Occurring in a Region of Scalded Skin.

We report a case of multiple eruptive pyogenic granulomas after scalding. A 4-year-old girl developed papules and nodules within the scalded areas after a hot soup burn. Although the occurrence of pyogenic granulomas after trauma to the skin is common, multiple lesions of pyogenic granuloma secondary to scalding are rare.

Obstruction of the external auditory meatus secondary to a giant pyogenic granuloma.

Pyogenic granuloma is a benign lesion of the skin and mucosa commonly known to occur in the head and neck region. The current literature has not yet identified its occurrence within the conchal bowl, a condition that leads to obstruction of the external auditory meatus. We present the case of a 28-year-old man who presented with a history of 3-4 weeks of a rapidly enlarging pedunculated lesion within the conchal bowl of the right ear and conductive hearing loss. Initial management included excision under local anaesthesia. The histological report concluded that it was a pyogenic granuloma. Lat

Gastric pyogenic granuloma: Report of two cases and review of the literature.

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a polypoid lobular capillary hemangioma rarely described in the stomach. We report two cases aged 72 and 66 years. A review of the literature on gastric PG, including the present cases, yielded ten patients. There were six males and four females. The age of the patients ranged from 35 to 82 years with a mean of 58.9 years. The lesions were all solitary, except one case of multiple lesions in the corpus and antrum. PG can be located in any part of the stomach. The most common site was the antrum. The mean maximum diameter of the lesions was 14.5mm (range 7-30mm). Most

Subcutaneous intravascular pyogenic granuloma: a case report and review of the literature.

Pyogenic granuloma (PG), also known as lobular capillary hemangioma, is a common vascular proliferation that often occurs after minor injury or infection of the skin. Typically these lesions occur in the superficial dermis; although rare, subcutaneous and intravascular lesions can occur. We present a case of PG with the unusual features of being both a deep subcutaneous and intravascular lesion localized to the forehead without antecedent trauma. We also review the literature on PG and discuss the differential diagnosis.

Overexpression of phosphorylated-ATF2 and STAT3 in cutaneous angiosarcoma and pyogenic granuloma.

BACKGROUND: Activating transcription factor-2/Activator protein-1 (AP-1), Signal transducer and activator of transcription-3 and p53 are important regulators of cellular proliferation, apoptosis, differentiation in the pathogenesis of many human tumors, but the expression of phosphorylated (p)-activating transcription factor-2 (p-ATF2), phosphorylated (p)-signal transducer and activator of transcription-3 (p-STAT3) and p53 family (p63 and p73) has not been investigated in cutaneous angiosarcoma (CAS) and pyogenic granuloma (PG) so far. OBJECTIVES: To investigate the expression of p-ATF2, p-ST

Pyogenic granuloma on the hand subsequent to friction blister in a hand surgeon.

A case of pyogenic granuloma in a 62-year-old hand surgeon secondary to friction blister is reported. He developed a fast growing, hypertrophic inflammatory papule consisting of exceptionally richly vascularized granular tissue. This dusky red lesion was located on the thenar part of the hand. We find no prior report of PG attributed to friction blister.

Increased expression of vascular endothelial growth factor in pyogenic granulomas.

The expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) was analysed in biopsy samples from patients with pyogenic granuloma. The results disclosed the presence of a strong VEGF signal in pyogenic granulomas, which are constituted by a vast majority of cells of endothelial lineage. A marked positivity was evident in areas of proliferating endothelial cells without vessel lumen formation. In the same respect, staining for VEGF was less marked in the vessels with a well-developed lumen. The fact that VEGF production appears to be limited to endothelial cell precursors or immature endothelial

Eruptive pyogenic granulomas: a successfully treated patient and review of the literature.

Pyogenic granuloma, also known as lobular capillary haemangioma, is a solitary, benign vascular skin tumour. Although a single pyogenic granuloma is common, multiple eruptive pyogenic granulomas are extremely rare. We report the occurrence of multiple, eruptive pyogenic granulomas in a previously healthy 17-year-old girl. Over 200 lesions appeared spontaneously over an 8-month period. Lesions were initially treated with cryotherapy, and then with the pulsed dye laser, resulting in their complete clearance.

Identification and semiquantification of estrogen and progesterone receptors in pyogenic granulomas of pregnancy.

Cases of pyogenic granuloma in pregnant women, nonpregnant women, and men were evaluated for the detection of estrogen and progesterone receptor proteins by immunoperoxidase staining. Immunostaining for estrogen receptors revealed a marked immunoreactivity of the endothelium within lesional tissue and in the overlying mucosal epithelium in many cases. Progesterone receptor immunoreactivity was only present within the epithelium, where it was much less than that of estrogen receptor immunoreactivity in both quantity (proportion of positive cells) and intensity. No characteristic staining patter

Case Series of Deep-Seated Pyogenic Granulomas in Pediatric Patients.

Deep-seated pyogenic granulomas (DSPG) are a rare variant of pyogenic granulomas and are commonly mistaken for other entities. Often, DSPG present as blue papulonodules without ulceration, and their clinical and histologic appearance can mimic other common subcutaneous nodules seen in pediatric patients, including hemangiomas, venous malformations, pilomatricomas, and kaposiform hemangioendotheliomas. Herein, we describe the clinical and histologic features of six pediatric cases of DSPG, as the clinicopathologic correlation of DSPG is scarce in the literature, especially in pediatric patients

An Overview of Oral Pyogenic Granuloma and Its Management: A Case Report.

An inflammatory hyperplasia known as a pyogenic granuloma (PG) appears as a nodular growth on the oral mucosa. The most frequent place is the gingiva, followed by the buccal mucosa, tongue, and lips. Histologically, the surface epithelium may be hyperkeratotic, have ulceration foci, or be intact. It lies on the dense connective tissue that contains a sizable amount of fully developed collagen. Most of the pregnancies result in PG of the gingiva; for this reason, the phrases "Pregnancy Tumor" and "Granuloma Gravidarum" are frequently used. It typically occurs during the second and third months

Pigmented pyogenic granuloma of the cornea and conjunctiva: a rare bilateral presentation.

Pyogenic granuloma, also known as lobular capillary hemangioma, is a benign vascular lesion that primarily affects the skin and mucous membranes. It is not pyogenic; nor is it granulomatous. It typically arises in response to local trauma or surgery, irritation, hormonal changes, or chronic inflammation, and it sometimes occurs spontaneously. The occurrence of pigmented pyogenic granuloma in the conjunctiva and cornea without any history of trauma or surgery is extremely rare, particularly in children. We report the clinical presentation, diagnostic evaluation, and successful management of bil

A giant pyogenic granuloma gravidarum in the nasal cavity: A case report.

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a benign fibrovascular proliferative lesion on the skin and mucous membranes, but its pathogenesis remains unclear. PG usually occurs on the head and neck region, fingers and toes. The oral gingiva is the most common location for pregnant patients, while it is rarely found in the nasal cavity. This case is notable not only for its uncommon site and size but also for its gradual growth after delivery. Endoscopic surgery can achieve the desired cosmetic effect and a satisfactory airway. A rapidly growing hemorrhagic lesion in the nasal cavity should be considered as a

Pyogenic granuloma after burns: a case report and review of the literature.

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a benign vascular proliferative tumor of the skin and mucous membranes, it can appear spontaneously or following triggering factors. Different clinical aspects are described, pyogenic granulomas following burns (GB) are rare. We report a case of post-burn pyogenic granuloma confirmed by histological study and treated surgically. This new observation will allow us to further clarify this condition.
