OBJECTIVE: The records of 10 patients with focal nodular hyperplasia inducing intrahepatic vein obstruction were reviewed. The purpose of this study was to describe and emphasize the imaging features of these findings.
CONCLUSION: Focal nodular hyperplasia may be responsible for hepatic vein obstruction with hepatic vein collaterals. The relatively large size and central location of the lesions seem to play important roles in the obstruction of the hepatic veins.

This case series describes the radiologic appearances of gynecomastoid hyperplasia of the breast in our experience. The clinical histories, breast images, and histopathologic findings in six women were reviewed. At mammography, there was no abnormality in two women, an enlarging asymmetric density in three women, and a nodule in one woman. Breast ultrasonography showed a hypoechoic nodule in one woman. Gynecomastoid hyperplasia has a varied radiologic appearance.

Two patients with congenital goitrous hypothyroidism, treated since birth, are described. Each developed progressive nodular thyroid enlargement in adolescence, possibly related to ongoing thyroid stimulation due to slight and transient elevations of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) levels. To investigate possible associations of nodular regenerative hyperplasia (NRH) with antitumor chemotherapy, we reviewed 72 partial hepatic resections (55 with metastatic tumor, 12 hepatocellular carcinomas, and five benign neoplasms). This report documents a unique case of rough hypoplastic amelogenesis imperfecta with apparent anterior oligodontia and multiple anomalies of the associated mesenchymally derived tissues. Multiple unerupted teeth showed hypercementosis, distorted roots with aberrant dentin formation, and marked follicular hyperplasia. The hyperplastic follicles had a complex histopathologic appearance that recapitulated some features of the WHO-type odontogenic fibroma. The features of these teeth, the nature of the associated follicular lesions, and their relationship to the unerupted teeth are discussed.

We report two cases of nodular regenerative hyperplasia of the liver associated with primary biliary cirrhosis. Cholestasis and presence of antimitochondrial antibodies were noted in both patients. In one patient, the diagnosis of nodular regenerative hyperplasia was supported by the demonstration of disseminated small hepatic nodules without perinodular fibrosis. A case or primary hyperaldosteronism due to unilateral macronodular adrenal hyperplasia is presented. This entity is exceptional: a review of the literature has yielded only three similar cases. The significance of these adrenal nodules is discussed; in particular, they are compared with the nodules found in hypertensive subjects. Their course after surgery is similar to that of Conn's adenoma.

A space-occupying mediastinal mass was discovered in a 16-year-old boy with metastasizing non-seminomatous testicular tumour six months after successful conclusion of cytostatic chemotherapy. Metastases at other sites were excluded. An enlarged thymus was the only finding at operation. Histological and histochemical examination demonstrated diffuse hyperplasia.
