Splenic marginal zone lymphoma (SMZL) is an indolent B cell malignancy usually involving spleen, bone marrow and blood. The disease presents as an incidental finding or with symptoms of splenic enlargement or anaemia. Diagnosis is based on a combination of lymphocyte morphology, immunophenotype and marrow and /or splenic histology. A 23-year-old male presented with clinical and radiological features of left lung collapse. Fibre-optic bronchoscopy revealed a smooth globular mass almost completely occluding the left main bronchus. Needle aspiration and endobronchial biopsy from the mass revealed it to be a case of anaplastic large cell lymphoma, a subtype of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. This report documents the rare presentation of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma as an endobronchial mass.

Hodgkin's lymphoma can be divided with the help of morphologic and immunohistochemical techniques into classical and nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin's lymphoma. By single cell analyses it could be established that the tumor cells of Hodgkin's lymphoma are clonal B-cells with germinal center origin. A 70-year-old woman presents with a 2-year history of intermittent, subcutaneous nodules. The patient was otherwise asymptomatic. A biopsy specimen was consistent with a subcutaneous T-cell lymphoma, a rare subset of peripheral T-cell lymphoma; when accompanied by the hemocphagocytic syndrome, it can be rapidly fatal. The histopathologic characteristics and nature of the disease are discussed.

Significant progress has been made in recent years in our understanding of the cellular origin of Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg (HRS) cells in Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL). Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) typically expresses B-cell antigens and CD5 and overexpresses bcl-1 protein. However, unusual cases of bcl-1+ and CD5-MCL have been observed, posing a practical challenge for correct diagnosis and management. We identified 25 cases (48 samples) of bcl-1+ and CD5- lymphoma.
