Background Smiling is one of the effective ways for people to express their feelings. It is an integral part of the diagnosis and planning and a key point of the treatment objectives in orthodontic care. Many factors are associated with a pleasant smile, such as correct anatomy, gingival health, and teeth proportion. Therefore, different malocclusion classes can affect the characteristics of smile esthetics. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of skeletal class II malocclusion on the characteristics and dynamics of the smile in the sagittal and frontal planes. Methodology The study sample

Background and Objective: This study analyzes the possibility that Stomatognathic and Postural systems are related by muscle chains. Malocclusion may influence the posture, contact between the foot and the ground, center of mass, footprint or vice-versa. This study aimed to verify whether there is a relationship between dental occlusion and podal system. Materials and Methods: A cross-cutting, descriptive study was carried out on 409 children (222 boys and 187 girls) between 8 and 14 years old. Dental occlusion was assessed on the sagittal plane (Angle's classification) the contact between the

It is incumbent upon the orofacial myologist to evaluate the presenting client's occlusion and detect any behaviors which may be influencing the alignment of the dentition or interfering with the treatment plan of the referral source. In order to accomplish these tasks, it is necessary to share some common terminology and to effectively communicate between all the participants involved in the treatment plan. The purpose of this article is to assist in accomplishing these goals.

Patients with skeletal ClassⅡ hyperdivergent patterns often present with mandibular retrognathism, increased lower facial height, and excessive vertical dimension of occlusion, resulting in an unaesthetic facial profile and a higher incidence of temporomandibular disorder (TMD). Conventional treatments such as camouflage orthodontics with extraction or single-jaw surgery often struggle to achieve a balance between improving facial aesthetics and functional outcomes. In recent years, a treatment approach centered on counterclockwise rotation (CCR) of the mandible has gained attention. By adjust

RATIONALE: The 6 elements of orofacial harmony play a crucial role in establishing individual aesthetics in orthodontics and orthognathic treatments. The use of digital tools streamlines multidisciplinary treatment processes and facilitates the attainment of precise outcomes.
PATIENT CONCERNS: The patient required orthodontic treatment because of a convex profile. UR1 was missing because of trauma and was replaced with a fixed bridge.
DIAGNOSES: The patient presented with a skeletal Class II relationship and a deep overbite. Diagnosis based on the 6 elements of orofacial harmony identified a

BACKGROUND: Class II subdivision is a malocclusion characterized by dental and functional asymmetry that is difficult to manage. Impaired muscle function can result in asymmetrical growth, leading to occlusal instability.
OBJECTIVE(S): The study aimed to assess occlusal force in patients with Class II subdivision malocclusion using Innobyte. Additionally, the discrepancies of force generated at the position of maximum intercuspidation between the left and right sides of the arches were evaluated.
METHODS: The occlusal force of 66 patients with Class II subdivision malocclusion (group S) was

The aim of this case report is to illustrate the fixed orthodontic, surgical and periodontal implant management of a young adult with multiple agenesis associated with a class II division 2 malocclusion. The challenge here was the multidisciplinary synchronisation in order to achieve a coordinated treatment with the best possible aesthetic, prosthetic and functional prognosis. The patient suffered from a total of 10 agenesis including third molars and underwent implant replacement with bone grafting and periodontal planning of the 6 missing premolars. The orthodontic treatment lasted 22months

BACKGROUND: Even though treatment of Class II malocclusion with premolar extractions and incisor retraction might affect incisor inclination and soft tissue profile, the effects of bracket prescription on this have not been thoroughly assessed.
METHODS: Fifty patients (mean age: 13.6 years; 34% male) receiving extraction-based treatment with either standard Edgewise or pre-adjusted appliances were included. Between-group differences in the incisor inclination assessed with lateral cephalograms were analyzed statistically with linear/logistic regression at 5%.
RESULTS: Treatment-induced chang
