Mice exposed inside of 10-km zone around Chernobyl Atomic Station with follow-up acute irradiation were studied to find the changes in their life-span. It was found that the results essentially depend on the interval between exposition in zone and acute irradiation and space of time after irradiation.

Implants of fetal stomach and colon under the kidney capsule of syngeneic, and H-2 compatible and H-2 incompatible allogeneic mice were examined histologically at different time intervals after the procedure. To test the effect of genotype on immune response, C57BL/6 and DBA/2 mice were sensitized with aluminum hydroxide gel (alum)-precipitated ovalbumin (OVA) and challenged with aerosolized OVA. Relatively Listeria-resistant C57B1/6 mice and more susceptible to the infection DBA/2 mice were immunized with Listeria-antigen (LA). Immunized DBA/2 mice developed weaker delayed hypersensitivity to LA and still eliminated listeriae less effectively than identically immunized C57B1/6 mice. An accessory function of LA-pulsed macrophages of normal C57B1/6 mice was only slightly enhanced as compared with LA-pulsed macrophages of DBA/2 mice. It is suggested that some suppressor lymphocytes, IgM+ and/or FcR+, could be responsible for the enhanced susceptibility of DBA/2 mice to listeriosis.

NEW FINDINGS: What is the central question of this study? We previously demonstrated that quercetin transiently preserved respiratory function in dystrophin-deficient mice. To gain lasting therapeutic benefits, we tested quercetin in combination with nicotinamide riboside, lisinopril and prednisolone in the D2-mdx model. What is the main finding and its importance? We demonstrated that these quercetin-based cocktails did not preserve respiratory or diaphragmatic function or reduce histological damage after 7 months of treatment starting at 4 months of age.

Production of neutralizing anti-IL-9 antibodies was induced in mice by immunization with mouse IL-9 coupled to ovalbumin. In the six mouse strains tested, a strong and long-lasting anti-IL-9 response developed with seric inhibitory titers of 10(-3) to 10(-5), as measured in an in vitro IL-9-dependent cell proliferation assay.
