A previously healthy 3-year-old boy presented with pallor, jaundice, cyanosis, and a 24-hour history of vomiting and anorexia following fava bean ingestion. Clinical examination and laboratory findings were consistent with severe nonimmune hemolytic anemia with methemoglobinemia. BACKGROUND: Pheochromocytoma is an endocrine tumor that causes hypertension, facial pallor, and headache. Pheochromocytoma patients rarely present with acute heart failure or cardiogenic shock.
METHOD: We discuss the case of a female patient with Takotsubo-pattern cardiomyopathy who presented with acute heart failure caused by pheochromocytoma.

A 4-year-old male child presented with recurrent episodes of diarrhoea for 6-months, each episode associated with weakness of all four limbs and documented hypokalemia who on examination had some pallor, short stature, flaccid quadriparesis with absent DTR. The patient responded clinically and biochemically to potassium supplement. TTG and Intestinal biopsy confirmed celiac disease. Patient was put on gluten free diet and patient is doing well with no recurrence. A 34-year-old woman developed bilateral optic neuritis 2 weeks after the onset of acute hepatitis C. The strong temporal relationship between the initial clinical manifestations of hepatitis C and the development of optic neuritis provides a basis for thinking that the hepatitis caused the optic neuritis After corticosteroid treatment, the optic neuropathy markedly improved but left behind retinal nerve fiber thinning, as measured by optical coherence tomography, and optic disc pallor. Optic neuritis has been reported in conjunction with hepatitis A and B but not with hepatitis C.

A total of 200 cases aged 1-13 years complaining of symptoms suggestive of giardiasis in addition to thirty normal healthy children as a control group was examined clinically and laboratory using stool examination and detection of Giardia coproantigen in faeces by Dot ELISA and direct IFA. Stool examination detected 39 cases (19.5%) while Dot ELISA and direct IFA detected 49 cases (24.5%) with 100% sensitivity and 93.8% specificity. The common clinical findings were diarrhea, abdominal cramps, anorexia, underweight, pallor and manifestations of vitamin deficiency. The results were discussed.

One hundred and seventy-nine patients completed a questionnaire focusing on adverse reactions to dental local anesthetics as manifested by 16 signs and symptoms. Two families from northern Sweden with a total of 8 patients with typical symptoms of congenital achromatopsia with amblyopia were studied.
