An Interprofessional Training Ward in Pediatric Cardiology: Ensuring Patient Safety and Results from the Evaluation of Patient and Parent Satisfaction.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Interprofessional training wards (ITWs) are effective in fostering interprofessional collaboration during undergraduate medical training. Ensuring safety is particularly crucial for vulnerable patient groups. We developed a safety concept for the pediatric cardiology ITW, enabling nursing trainees and final-year medical students to independently care for children with congenital heart defects (CHDs). This study aims to evaluate whether our safety concept allows the inclusion of patients with CHDs in the care provided by our ITW. It also seeks to evaluate patient feedback

Quantifying Threshold Scores for Patient Satisfaction After Massive Rotator Cuff Repair for the Interpretation of Mid-Term Patient-Reported Outcomes.

PURPOSE: To establish minimal clinically important difference (MCID) and patient acceptable symptomatic state (PASS) values for 4 patient-reported outcomes (PROs) in patients undergoing arthroscopic massive rotator cuff repair (aMRCR): American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score, Subjective Shoulder Value (SSV), Veterans Rand-12 (VR-12) score, and the visual analog scale (VAS) pain. In addition, our study seeks to determine preoperative factors associated with achieving clinically significant improvement as defined by the MCID and PASS. METHODS: A retrospective review at 2 institutions

Patient satisfaction with HIV and TB treatment in a public programme in rural KwaZulu-Natal: evidence from patient-exit interviews.

BACKGROUND: Patient satisfaction is a determinant of treatment uptake, adherence and retention, and an important health systems outcome. Queues, health worker-patient contact time, staff attitudes, and facility cleanliness may affect patient satisfaction. We quantified dimensions of patient satisfaction among HIV and TB patients in a rural sub-district of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, and identified underlying satisfaction factors that explained the data. METHODS: We conducted patient-exit interviews with 300 HIV and 300 TB patients who were randomly selected using a two-stage cluster random s…

Liposuction Followed by Helium Plasma Radiofrequency Versus Liposuction Control: A Retrospective Study Evaluating Patient Satisfaction.

BACKGROUND: Liposuction is widely performed for body contouring, but concerns regarding residual sagging and contour irregularities remain as limitations of this technique. Heat-emitting technologies aim to stimulate skin contraction, and radiofrequency (RF) energy is considered effective. However, patient satisfaction is essential to confirm its clinical benefit. METHODS: This retrospective observational study analyzed the outcomes of 113 patients who underwent either conventional liposuction (n = 73) or liposuction followed by helium plasma RF (n = 40) performed by a single surgeon. Objecti…

Association Between Minimum Service Standards and Patient Satisfaction in Outpatient Departments of Nepal's Government Hospitals.

BACKGROUND: Nepal's Minimum Service Standards (MSS) tool assesses structural readiness of government hospitals but its relationship to patient satisfaction is unknown. We evaluated how well MSS scores correspond to outpatient satisfaction and patient reported gaps in the quality of services. METHODS: A cross-sectional mixed-methods study utilized 839 patient satisfaction surveys conducted from July 2021 to May 2024 across 57 government hospitals, then linked responses to retrospective hospital-level MSS scores. Overall satisfaction was modeled with an ordinal mixed-effects logistic regression…

Postoperative Symptoms and Patient Satisfaction After Standard or Minimally Invasive Pterional Craniotomy for Intracranial Aneurysms.

OBJECTIVE: Microsurgical approaches for intracranial aneurysms are more invasive than endovascular treatments and are associated with longer recovery periods and worse cosmetic outcomes. To reduce the significant surgical burden on patients, neurosurgeons have developed more refined techniques. In this study, headache rates and postoperative scar satisfaction were compared between standard pterional and minipterional craniotomies for anterior circulation aneurysm clipping. METHODS: A single-institution, mixed prospective and retrospective cohort study of patients treated by a single surgeon f
