Pediatric sports injuries are becoming more prevalent as children participate in sports. This has resulted in more imaging of pediatric injuries. The growing skeleton has features that result in unique injury patterns and radiologic findings. The article discusses the special features of bones including the growth plate, apophyses, cortex, and periosteum. Pediatric-specific sports injuries and conditions in the most common joints are then reviewed including the elbow, hip, and knee. A rare case of intraosseous cavernous hemangioma was identified in the nasal root. Using a combination of endoscopic surgery and open rhinoplasty, an osteotomy was performed and resection of the hemangioma was successfully achieved with transcolumellar and infracartilaginous incisions and 2 stab incisions. No adverse side effects were observed after the procedure, no tumor recurrence was observed at the 16-month-postoperative follow-up. Date palm thorn injuries are common in Middle Eastern countries, where there are many date palm plantations. If detected, these injuries can be treated without subsequent complications. In this paper, the author presents 2 cases of sagittal synostosis with scaphocephaly that featured ossified scalp hematomas straddling the sagittal suture in the midparietal region. These ossified lesions were originally cephalohematomas. Collection of blood under the pericranium across the midline was possible in these cases because sagittal synostosis had obliterated the sagittal suture and its dense attachment to overlying periosteum. The hemifrontal flap is an efficient way of reconstructing large unilateral defects that involve the hemiforehead. Six patients had their foreheads reconstructed after the excision of neglected tumours in the frontal region. The flap was designed to provide adequate repair of large defects including the periosteum. The use of a rotation pedicled flap, entitled the 'Singapore Swing', comprising temporalis fascia and mastoid periosteum, is presented as a new method of promoting healing in 'open' mastoid surgery for chronic ear discharge. The treatment results of pseudoarthrosis of long bones in 25 patients have been presented. There were eight infected pseudoarthroses. The stable Zespol osteosynthesis was used together++ with bone-periosteum-muscle decortication and covering with grafts of autogenous or homogenous spongy bone. CASE: A pediatric patient sustained an open Monteggia-equivalent fracture treated operatively. Despite uneventful fracture healing, late-onset extrinsic flexor tightness of the index finger occurred. A neocortex developed about the torn ulnar periosteum, entrapping the index flexor digitorum profundus muscle belly. This article examines the most common problematic hand and wrist injuries in the pediatric athlete. Hand and wrist injuries in the growing skeleton pose a different diagnostic and therapeutic challenge than in the mature skeleton. Ligaments are stronger than bone, and unossified cartilaginous sections of the skeleton are yet more susceptible to injury than bone.
