The effects of the anticonvulsant gabapentin were measured on vision and eve movements in three patients with acquired pendular nystagmus. In two patients, the nystagmus was associated with multiple sclerosis and, in the other, it followed brainstem stroke. A single oral 600 mg dose of gabapentin produced improvement of vision due to changes in ocular oscillations in all three patients. The effect was sustained after five weeks of treatment in two patients who elected to continue taking gabapentin 900-1500 mg/day. A kit for safe and easy insertion of a central vein cannula was devised. A small gauge (22 gauge) metal pilot needle was equipped with a Y-shaped hub which had a side-port to accept a small gauge (0.46 mm) Seldinger guide wire. Transvaginal hysterosalpingoultrasonography (HSUG) was performed using a uterine cannula and Ringer's solution (Kabi Baxter) as a contrast agent in 14 women consulting for infertility. The results were compared with those of chromopertubation at laparoscopy/laparotomy. With HSUG, the uterine cavity was always well visualized, though it was more difficult to evaluate tubal status. OBJECTIVES: The treatment of Peyronie's disease with oral or topical agents has not been entirely satisfactory. In this pilot study, we hypothesized that colchicine, known to induce collagenase activity and decrease collagen synthesis, might be an ideal agent in the treatment of Peyronie's disease.

We studied the relationship between laboratory markers of iron status and atrophic glossitis diagnosed clinically and documented with photographs. Nine subjects with glossitis underwent determination of CBC, ferritin, iron, and iron binding capacity. Five of the subjects had laboratory evidence suggesting iron deficiency.

Various studies have indicated that bulimics are more easily hypnotized and dissociate more readily than control groups and patients with other eating disorders. Eighteen women less than 22 years old, who had their first child during adolescence, were assessed with a standard in-depth diagnostic interview for the presence of and/or history of depression and other disorders. In this pilot study, itraconazole was administered to 18 patients with tinea corporis. The dosage was 100 mg daily for four to six weeks. Follow-up visits took place two, four, and six weeks after the first dose. Skin samples were cultured, and clinical symptoms were assessed at each visit.
