We report the case of the decomposed remains of a 23-year-old man discovered in an unused industrial size refrigerator in which the mechanism of death is heatstroke. A new cryosurgical apparatus, model AKT-01 for treatment of erosions, uterine cervix polyps, pointed condylomas and for cryocoagulation of the uterine mucosa has been designed. Kidney tissues from 20 cattle infected with Leptospira interrogans serovars hardjo, pomona, or grippotyphosa were cultured on the day of slaughter and 3, 6, and 8 days later to examine the effect of storage time on the recovery of leptospires by conventional culture methods. Leptospires were isolated from 85% of infected bovine kidney tissues cultured on day 1, and from 95%, 90%, and 90% of kidney tissues stored in transport medium at 4 C for 3, 6, and 8 days, respectively, prior to inoculation of culture media.

In general, naturally occurring cold autoagglutinins react optimally at low temperatures. We describe a young child who experienced an acute hemolytic transfusion reaction by an unusual autoanti-I. The IgM autoanti-I was detected at 4°C (titer 256) and also reacted at 30°C. This case highlights the potential hazard of transfusing units of blood immediately upon removal from the blood refrigerator, especially into neonates and children of small stature.
