The interaction of a structurally characterized Sr-Fe nitrosyl complex with DNA has been studied by UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy, viscometric, and gel electrophoresis techniques. From the absorption titration studies the intrinsic binding constant of the complex with DNA was calculated to be 1.6x10(4)M(-1). Fluorimetric studies indicate that the complex compete with EB in binding to DNA. The complex shows nuclease activity on pUC19 supercoiled DNA in presence of H(2)O(2).

The semisynthetic syntheses and some properties of derivatives of Clostridium acidi-urici ferredoxin that contain amino acid deletions or replacements in the peptide chain are described. A series of novel 5-(3-aryl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl)-2-(3-butyl-1-chloroimidazo[1,5-a]- pyridin-7-yl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives has been synthesized from 3-butyl-1-chloroimidazo[1,5-a]pyridine-7-carboxylic acid and ethyl 3-aryl-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxylate. Synthesis and characterization of [o-carboxy phenylazo] moiety of barbituric acid, thiobarbituric acid, thiouracil, citrazinic acid, and disodium chromotropate and their complexes derived from cobalt (II), nickel (II), and copper (II) salts were done. The stereochemistry and the mode of bonding of the complexes were achieved based on elemental analysis, NMR, UV-Vis, IR and ESR. Cyanide binding to bovine heart cytochrome c oxidase at five redox levels has been investigated by use of infrared and visible-Soret spectra. A C-N stretch band permits identification of the metal ion to which the CN- is bound and the oxidation state of the metal. Non-intrinsic Cu, if present, is detected as a cyanide complex. Bands can be assigned to Cu+CN at 2093 cm-1, Cu2+CN at 2151 or 2165 cm-1, Fe3+CN at 2131 cm-1, and Fe2+CN at 2058 cm-1. The most commonly used fungal DNA extraction techniques require enzymatic digestion or hazardous chemicals. Here, we describe a quick non-enzymatic salt-out method that we developed for isolating high-quality DNA from various fungal species. DNA was extracted from four species of typical fungi, including Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Hansenula polymorpha, Candida albicans, and Aspergillus flavus. This study examined the corrosion inhibition mechanisms of extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) from Lactobacillus reuteri, Pseudomonas fluorescens, and Escherichia coli on carbon steel.
