INTRODUCTION: The application of artificial intelligence to enhance the clinical practice of ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia is of increasing interest to clinicians, researchers and industry. The lack of standardised reporting for studies in this field hinders the comparability, reproducibility and integration of findings. We aimed to develop a consensus-based reporting guideline for research evaluating artificial intelligence applications for ultrasound scanning in regional anaesthesia.
METHODS: We followed methodology recommended by the EQUATOR Network for the development of reportin

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Endoscopic ultrasound-guided pancreatic duct drainage (EUS-PD) has emerged as a minimally invasive therapeutic option for patients who cannot undergo traditional retrograde access to the pancreatic duct due to difficulties in cannulation or surgically altered anatomy. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the overall outcomes and safety of EUS-PD.
METHODS: We conducted a comprehensive search of major databases, including PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and Science Citation Index, up until October 2023. The meta-analysis focused on technical and clinical success rat

Ultrasound guided regional anaesthesia is a fast-rising acute pain management modality in emergency departments worldwide. It is a safe and effective alternative to opioid based systemic analgesia. Establishing a standardised and efficient protocol requires a multidisciplinary approach namely involving collaborations between anaesthesiology and emergency medicine counterparts. In this article, we outline our approach in establishing an end-to-end service which is both patient-centred and sustainable.

The article "Effect of Bedside Ultrasound‑Guided Versus Fluoroscopy‑Guided Transvenous Cardiac Temporary Pacing in Children with Bradyarrhythmia" offers valuable insights into comparative short-term pacing strategies for pediatric bradyarrhythmias. There are some comments that the study overlooks the impact of genetic factors on bradyarrhythmias and treatment outcomes, lacks detailed information on the influence of medications, and does not address the cost-effectiveness of the pacing techniques. The analysis and explanation are made here, and it is hoped that through further research in the f

BACKGROUND: A thoracic paravertebral block can be a useful opioid-sparing technique for controlling postoperative pain after thoracic and visceral abdominal surgery.
OBJECTIVES: Our aim was to assess dye spread into the ventral branch, connecting branch, sympathetic trunk, thoracic paravertebral space, and epidural space after performing a modified ultrasound-assisted thoracic paravertebral block via the intervertebral foramen.
STUDY DESIGN: This was a nonrandomized cadaveric study.
SETTING: The cadavers were kept at the Department of Anatomopathology of the San Salvatore Academic Hospital

BACKGROUND: Malignant liver tumors seriously endanger human health. Among different therapeutic approaches, high-frequency irreversible electroporation (H-FIRE) is a recently emerging tumor ablation technique. The objective of this study was to evaluate the feasibility and safety of ultrasound-guided percutaneous H-FIRE using four electrode needles in porcine livers.
METHODS: Twelve experimental pigs underwent percutaneous H-FIRE ablation using a compound steep-pulse therapeutic device. Liver tissues adjacent to the gallbladder, blood vessels, and bile ducts were selected as the ablation targ

Endoscopic ultrasound-guided choledochoduodenostomy (EUS-CDS) with lumen apposing metal stent is emerging both as a rescue strategy and a primary treatment for distal malignant biliary obstruction. The large-scale diffusion of the procedure and improved overall survival of patients with pancreatobiliary neoplasms is resulting in a growing population of long-term EUS-CDS lumen apposing metal stent carriers. Recent studies have reported a need for reintervention during follow-up as high as 55%, and the Leuven-Amsterdam-Milan Study Group classification has been developed, identifying five mechani

A variety of foot and ankle pathologies can impair patient's daily activities, ultimately requiring surgical management. However, with improvements in image-guided intervention, the joints, soft tissues, and osseous structures may be accessible using various percutaneous techniques as a potential alternative therapeutic tool, avoiding the need for surgery with its associated risks and morbidity. This article discusses the potential range of image-guided interventional treatments. Injections, aspiration, biopsies, cryoablation, and radiofrequency ablation are described. Newer novel treatments a

The purpose of this review was to summarize the current literature pertaining to ultrasound-guided percutaneous A1 pulley release procedures. We searched PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, and Web of Science for clinical studies examining ultrasound-guided percutaneous A1 pulley release. A total of 17 studies involving 749 procedures were included in this review. The overall success rate was 97%. There were 23 minor complications (4 cases of hematomas, 15 cases of persistent pain, and 4 cases of transient numbness) and no major complications reported. Ultrasound-guided A1 pulley release is an e

OBJECTIVE: Trigger finger is one of the most common pathologies of the finger flexor mechanism. Previous studies have shown the value of ultrasound-guided percutaneous tenolysis. The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety of anterograde versus retrograde percutaneous ultrasound-guided tenolysis.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: This was a comparative cadaver study performed between December 2021 and April 2022 in France, with 40 fresh cadaver fingers. Thumbs were excluded. A single surgeon performed 20 ultrasound-guided anterograde releases and 20 ultrasound-guided retrograde releases

Ultrasound-guided hydrodistention has been established as an effective minimally invasive treatment option for glenohumeral joint adhesive capsulitis (AC). Nonetheless, the long-term outcomes of the procedure have not yet been established. A total of 202 patients with AC were prospectively recruited and followed up for a total of 2 years. Pain and functionality were assessed with the use of the visual analogue scale (VAS) and the disabilities of the arm, shoulder, and hand (DASH) score, respectively, at the beginning and the end of the follow-up period. The relapse of AC over the 2-year period
