We report on a patient with a long history of rheumatoid arthritis who consulted for intense hematuria that was initially ascribed to carcinoma of the bladder. Subsequent patient evaluation, however, disclosed amyloidosis of the urinary bladder. The literature on amyloidosis of the urinary tract is reviewed. A detailed analysis of the biopsy specimens taken from a lesion that looks like a bladder carcinoma may disclose other pathologies such as amyloidosis of the urinary bladder.

The fifth reported case of a rare variant of transitional papillary tumor of the bladder termed inverted papilloma is reported with a brief review of the literature. Penile lymphoma is a very rare neoplasm. We report the case of an 82-year-old man who presented with phimosis. The patient also complained of frequent and painful urination. Upon examination a painless penile ulcer and multiple enlarged inguinal lymph nodes were found. The shaft of the penis and the prostate were hard on palpation. Vesical endometriosis accounts for approximately 1% of all discovered cases of endometriosis. We report the first case of a 36-year-old woman with pregnancy-associated decidual changes within bladder endometriosis that are clinically presented as a rapidly growing bladder tumor. Cystoscopy, with subsequent cold cup biopsy and fulguration, revealed a solitary, red-brown, nodular lesion, which turned to be a decidualized endometriosis of the urinary bladder. Delivery and postdelivery follow-up was uneventful and no recurrence was diagnosed.

Male F344 rats were given a diet supplemented with uracil at concentrations of 1 or 3% for 15 or 30 wk. In the group given 3% uracil, numerous calculi of uracil were observed in the urinary tract with marked hyperplasia and papillomas of the urinary bladder mucosa in Wk 15 and 30. Bladder mucosa from patients undergoing prostatectomy was examined histologically for evidence of pre-malignant change. The mucosal appearances were compared with tissue taken from control patients without bladder outlet obstruction. The appearances in patients with uncomplicated obstruction and in control patients were found to be similar and dysplastic change was uncommon.
