PURPOSE: Our purpose was to test whether micromanipulation using subzonal insemination and intracytoplasmic sperm injection could improve the poor fertilization and pregnancy rates obtained when attempting in vitro fertilization in patients with congenital absence of the vas deferens and unreconstructable obstructive azoospermia with microsurgically retrieved epididymal spermatozoa.

Between May 1981 and December 1985 we performed vasovasostomy using a needle as a support in 43 patients who had undergone vasectomy for family planning. The operation is simple with little surgical trauma and few complications. All 39 patients who underwent semen analysis had return of spermatozoa. Pregnancy resulted in 27 of 34 patients (79.41 per cent) who attempted conception. The results were satisfactory. The procedure is described, and the complication and success rates are analyzed.

Vasovasostomy specimens were examined for vascular changes in 50 cases of vasitis nodosa. In five, benign gland- or ductule-like structures were seen invading small veins and, in one, also the small arteries. The intravascular ductules appeared benign, and there was no clinical evidence of malignancy. The presence of ductules in the blood vessels always was accompanied by marked elastosis. PURPOSE: Transverse testicular ectopia (TTE) is a well described, rare congenital abnormality of testicular descent, in which both testes migrate through one inguinal canal. The objective of this work was to present three cases of TTE, one of them with a common vas deferens.
