In a previous study (Haas et al. 1995), we reported on preliminary results of 76 Brånemark implants placed in 71 patients with single-tooth gaps. The present study examines the results of the same group over a longer period of time: 55 implants were followed for more than 5 years, 12 for a period between 4 and 5 years and 1 implant for 46 months. PURPOSE: The purpose of the study was to determine utilization patterns of dental services, unmet dental needs, access to care barriers, and … ted smoking. Meanwhile, bleeding gingiva was reported by 50%, swollen or tender gingiva by 37%, and tooth loss by 49%.
CONCLUSIONS: The majority of migrant farmworkers in a southern Illinois community reported access to care barriers, and having never or episodically received dental services. Nearly half reported signs of periodontal disease.

Between November 1988 and July 1992, a total of 320 ITI screw implants were consecutively placed in 109 patients. The patients were observed in a prospective longitudinal study focusing on implant success and clinical proof.
