We report the genome sequences of four bacterial strains, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus pumilus, Pseudomonas kermanshahensis, and Kocuria rhizophila, isolated from soil or plant material from Geneseo, NY. Bacterial strains were selected based on preliminary, qualitative screening for antimicrobial production via zones of clearing and/or inhibition against lab strains.

Anthrax is an infectious disease caused by Bacillus anthracis. It is primarily a disease of domestic animals. Human beings can be infected by contact with infected animals, soiled objects, thorns or insect stings. In its cutaneous form, it may produce lesions of the eyelids. We report a case of bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) infection of an axillary-femoral bypass graft presenting approximately 10 months after the initiation of intravesicular bacillus Calmette-Guérin for the treatment of bladder cancer. The patient's clinical course included removal of the bypass graft and antimycobacterial treatment with isoniazid, rifampin, and ethambutol for 9 months.

The ability to transmit of plague bacillus was studied in the first-, third- and fourth-generation hybrids bred from C.t.altaicus and C.t.sungaris. The fleas were inoculated with two virulent strains from the Tuva and Transbaikal natural foci of plague. The bacillus was demonstrated to infect the hybrids, form gizzard block, and be transmitted to white mice, causing the animals' death.
