Balloon aortic valve dilatation (BAD : is assumed to provide the same outcomes as surgical aortic valvuloplasty (SAV). However, the development of precise modern surgical valvuloplasty techniques may result in better long-term durability of the aortic valve repair. This review of the recent literature suggests that current SAV provides a safe and durable repair. Furthermore, primary SAV appears to have greater freedom from reintervention and aortic valve replacement when compared to BAD.

Three decades ago, pedicled flaps from the groin and abdomen were the workhorses in hand and forearm reconstruction. These pedicled flaps have several disadvantages including patient discomfort, stiffness, the need for flap division, and the inability to elevate the hand after acute trauma. This paper describes a new technique in the repair of the hand defect with digital extensor tendon injury. The anterolateral thigh flap with the thick femoral fascia has been used in the reconstruction of the composite defect of the dorsal hand, especially the defect of tendon. This technique requires short period of treatment and hence causes less damage to the donor site but shows a better recovery of the hand function. A favorable curative effect has been obtained in this patient.

The purpose of this report was to present a 2-step approach for treating near-total scrotal defects after Fournier gangrene, which proved to be safe, reliable, and with improved cosmesis.
